Removing OEM Oil Temp/Pressure sender

I have the Innovative Oil Temp/Pressure gauge and rather than using a TRD sandwich plate as I am, because the Innovative pressure sender is huge it wont fit without a T piece or extension, I want too use the ports used by the OEM oil pressure/temp senders. Moving both of them to the TRD sandwich plate.

Ive had a go at loosening both but they seem to be pretty tight. I stopped due to a fear of breaking either one off at the base which would be a major hassle to say the least.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone this route with additional gauges and what their experience was with regard to different readings from these locations, and any difficulty they had getting the OEM senders out.

I've noticed that when using the TRB sandwich plate my Oil Pressure fluctuates between 6-8psi before even starting the engine, even after sitting for 10 hours plus overnight. Hard to believe there'd be residual oil pressure that long after stopping the engine but who knows.

When starting it hits the gauges 100psi immediately and when warm hits the 100psi around the 5500rpm mark. Still waiting on Innovate to get back to me on these oddities so don't know if its due to the sandwich plate or dodgy sender!!

Is this a guide?

I can't find any other mention or video specific to an 86 so yes it will be when I take the chance and do it.

It it doesn't fit in the DIY criteria I have no issue with it being moved.

Don't worry I am joking with you, although it doesn't go in the DIY!

I had a similar situation with my BRZ, you can remove the stock oil pressure sender no problem however you will need to get an adapter to thread into the block on that spot. Removing the oil temp sender will trigger the check engine light, and you will need another adapter for the new sender. Also be aware that the threaded holes are of different pitch for the oil pressure and temp holes in the block. It is beyond me why they did that. Your best bet if you want zero issues is an oil filter sandwich.

My ProSport oil pressure gauge hits 100 psi right away when cold but once my oil warms up, it doesn't hit 100 psi at all. At 5500 RPM it's only around 6k psi. The pressure will jump around a little as it warms up.

There is no OEM oil pressure sender. Do you mean you have a TRD aftermarket sender installed? This post is confusing.

the 86 comes with an OEM oil temp gauge but no OEM oil pressure gauge.

False - there is an OEM oil pressure sensor. It will trigger a light on your dash if pressure drops to zero, ultimately being just an idiot light to let you know things are already jacked up. You are able to unplug it and no check engine codes will be triggered. Many people replace this plug with a sensor wired to a gauge for more clarity.

Image below shows the sensor's location. It's the one that the wire is no longer connected to.
