Thanks to @Packofcrows I have now been exposed to a whole new genre of music.


After viewing a few snippets of the bands he recommended I have a pile of downloading and video watching to do!


X Japan* Great and right in my taste.
Luna Sea* Nope. Too U2ish.
Versailles Superb! This is my favourite so far. I can watch these videos all night (and just may).
Early Dir en Grey* Extremely variable, undecided.
Gazette Not sure yet. Hard to find much
L'Arc~en~Ciel* Don't like at all. Not sure what, just something doesn't appeal to me.
Girugamesh Alright but not top of the list.
D'erspairs Ray Good and will download some.

Don't understand a freakn' word but really enjoying something I never knew existed before. Any more of the heavy/glam type stuff anubody can recommend?


At this rate I will be watching anime and eating whatever the hell Pho is any day now.

Other than a couple of moments of serious gender confusion this video rocked my world!

Unfortunately, Versailles broke up like 2yrs ago. :(


I'm tired of typing. That's like only 10% of my j-bands. Many are undergeround. Hope you can find them. Others just play local shows so they fall into the 'non-existant' category. But they do exist. I either saw them live, youtube'd them years back or x-gf's gave me demo cd's of 'em.

Sweet lord man that is enough to keep me going for months!

Dunno if you'll like this but I listen to a group called "Babymetal". They are more j-rock than metal, I suppose? dunno.

Purists don't like them because of their "style" but hey, I love their songs and I find myself going way past the speed limit whenever a song comes on. I don't listen to metal though, so what do I know. haha

I don't mind that at all and a least I can tell who is actually female (I think). My long night of video watching and research tells me I am more interested in the meta/glam music of the visual kei type. I have no idea how I never stumbled upon this stuff years ago.
