Northwest road and cruise directory.
Since there were quite a few people asking about fun roads to drive on. i figure i'd start this thread for information purpose.
If you know any great roads around, please follow the same format and try to post only roads you've driven on. - Road name/course name Risk Level: Low, Intermediate, High Attraction: Tell us about the road Area: Residential, highway, national park, wasteland, etc. Traffic: usual traffic pattern. seasonal? Road Closures: does it open all year round? Add pictures of road course on google map. Add additional picture of road(optional) 1 - Mt. Baker HWY to Artist Point. Risk Level: High. No guard rails, sheer cliffs, tight hairpins. Attraction: Great scenery, tight corners and hair pins all the way to the top. Area: Mt Baker National Park / Highways. Traffic: Low at the beginning of Spring and end of Fall. High during summer. Traffic: Low at the beginning of Spring and end of Fall. High during summer. Sheer Cliffs, hairpins Attraction: Many bends and curves, a few hairpins. Area: St. Helens National Park / Highways. Attraction: Nice cruise with some nice curves and bends. (also good food and beer in leavenworth), take detour at Old Cascade Hwy. Not to the exact specification, but I've been trying to do this for a while.
Link to an aggregate view If you use google maps to look up the roads, you can zoom all over to see other roads as well. Used this guide to go on a little solo cruise this morning to Sunrise Point, fun road!
Started from 410 East and once you get about 4000ft or so the road gets less bumpy, road surface is still a bit inconsistent but some of the banked turns and quick change in direction turns were awesome. Caution to those with lowered 86's, I'm stock height/suspension and didn't notice any scraping but it seems anything more than an inch of drop you might need to be careful in some areas.
