After market cold air intakes

Hi, I am looking at cold air intakes and would like to know if there is one that will use the stock ecu, not void my warranty, and give fairly well gains. Any feedback would be great!

There is tons of information on these in the technical topics thread under Engine, Exhaust,.

I ran the Grimmspeed intake before my turbo, and my buddy has the Perrin. both work really well.

Go to the Basic Bolt Ons heading and scroll down to intakes.
The only one that is 100% warranty friendly is the TRD one installed by a dealer authorised shop (read 'them').

HELLO @86Frost and WELCOME to ...... The Group ...... :)

Yep, lots of cold air intakes out there to choose from.

Now, since you are in the PNW, where the air is already quite cool ...... I would suggest all you really might consider is a free-er flowing air filter ..... to let more of the cool air in. Something like a K&N drop in filter.

The OEM air box is reported to be quite efficient and since the air in the PNW (at least in the Western part) is relatively dust free, a free-er flowing filter makes since (at least to me).

Yep, just open the clips on the box, take the old one out, slip that puppy in (the CORRECT way) and close the box ...... there ya go ........ your $40 mod is done.....

Yeah doesn't the k and n have better 'gains' than almost every intake on the market.

I remember seeing dyno tested 10 extra horses on a YouTube video whereas the intakes are doing like 6 or 7.

Yuppers! I got a Apexi Panel Filter from Rallysport. I notice the difference right away. Got mine installed last week. Best $35.10 spent for a drop in air filter.

Well if you want to be super conservative, keep the warranty and do an easy install and want to ditch the sound tube, I quite enjoy my TRD intake it's quite pricey but it's worth it adds a bit more intake growl and less drone from the sound tube within the cabin. I make up for the power it doesn't make compared to other intakes with my OFT tune and at least it's way more "OEM" than the others and no one's gonna blame it for anything that goes wrong.

Also alot of drop ins are comparable in power increase to CAI on the markets so look into them as well....

stevesnj 10-23-2015 01:49 PM

Previously I posted a video about CAI's and and it showed no increase in power or a drop in power on Turbo'd engines, These guys did the same testing on an NA engine and there is a 6-8 HP gain so I stand corrected. They are effective on NA engines... take a look at his vid goto 6:40
