OFT Code U0122.. Limp mode.. Help

So I went out to a car meet tonight, had a friend of mine drive my car since he has an FRS I'd give him an idea what the full bolt on + e85 was like. We got back, hung out of about half hour to an hour. Went to drive my car and about a 1/4 mile in I noticed my ABS and Stability light were stuck on. Turned the car off then back on, then ALL the lights came up, check engine, ABS, TC, basically everything right of the speedo. Tried to power on my OFT and nothing happened. Turned the car back on, no power steering, all the lights on and no OFT getting power. Unscrewed my gas cap and put it back in thinking it was something small.
This time when I started the car everything was normal, checked the code real quick and picked up a U0122 code. Cleared it and went to pull out of the parking spot it all went to crap again. Limp mode, no power steering etc.
Checked as much of the wire harness as I could see, unplugged the battery for about 10-15 minutes and still same results.
I don't think my buddy would've done anything abusive to the car or mistreated it in any way, he's a pretty genuine guy. Has anyone else run into this as far as a cause or know of a fix?

edit: currently leaving the battery unplugged for the next few hours to see if it can help clear something up
Edit 8-26-17 I didn't realize I never updated the post for the fix. I was recommended to take the wires off the battery and touch them together to create some kind of electronic discharge. As a last resort before taking it to the dealer I gave it a try. Took the cables off, touched them together. Put them back on the battery and everything has been normal since.

Have you checked your fuses? I believe there's one for the VDC.

cameronjones239 10-22-2015 01:18 AM

I'm not seeing it a fuse for that anywhere.. I can't find hardly any info on anyone else running into this. It's pretty strange. @steve99

Should be MPX-B. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's highlighted.

Pulled that fuse and it's in good shape, restarted the car and still same issues.

Not that it really helps... but

Yeah, I'm out of ideas.

Someone else who had this issue had it eventually go away by itself. So, here's hoping?

I'm just tossing this out there as a possible suggestion:

What kind of shape is your battery in? If you have a way to check the voltage and also make sure it's charging when the engine is running. you should be seeing 13.8-14.2 volts if your alternator is doing it's job. Dying batteries can cause all kinds of weird things to happen.

U0122 is lost communication with dynamics control module (stability)

do you have any obd devices plugged into obd port

check battery volts

when you remove battery power , press brake pedal to bleed off any residual power to make sure everything get reset.

It sound like it might actually be a fault with the vehicle stability control or connections.

run the tank out stock tune , back to dealer

You could be right on that battery, I'll check the voltage first thing in the morning and report back

I did have to jump it a few weeks ago before a big cruise. She's been sitting a lot since then with no trickle charger. When I got out of the car to show him the OFT after his cruise I left my ignition on. He took me for a ride in the GTR then my buddy offered an M3 ride shortly after. So it had to be on for a solid hour. Thanks for the quick replies, good excuse for a lightweight battery if this one won't revive

I hope it's something simple like that for you

Yes. Lost communication with vehicle dynamics control module is the system that is responsible for the electronic driver assists like ABS. This happens when something interferes with a sensor of some sort. For instance it can happen when someone goes off track into grass while tracking, and its happened to me before when I overstretched and broke an ABS Sensor Wire while changing out coil overs. 90% chance its a wheel speed sensor or something.

Lost communication

Hey I’m having the same problem I wanted to know what exactly did you do to fix it ?
