Custom GT 300 hood vents/heat managment

3 Attachment(s)
I want to know if anyone has experience or thoughts on cutting into the oem aluminum hood for venting/heat management purposes (specifically styled like the gt300 perhaps?) I know that @Reaper has done something similar in his own thread.

The reason why I ask is because most aftermarket hoods (Seibon etc.) are actually heavier than our oem ones! Unless you're using a pure carbon process (not carbon over fiberglass) those hoods are a pass for me.

I know that aluminum is traditionally a harder metal to form and bend into shape, so I want to know if this is feasible. The design would also need to be functional and take into account areas of high and low preasure as air passes over the hood, so as to extract heat from the engine bay.

Thoughts? Sound off. See pictures for reference

Cutting metal, then bending it, then welding a triangle shaped piece to reinforce it.
There is also the reinforcement bars under. And then trying to get them to be symmetrical...

All that labor, paint, etc , it is cheaper to buy a hood with vents in them.
Or cut a hole and put a vent/duct in the hole.

It's only cheaper if you have free welding and fabrication.

Cost isn't so much an issue here. I'm more interested in maintaining a light hood and incorporating heat management. Wouldn't even have to be as intricate as the GT 300.

Here is the cut, bend, weld method. The side reinforcements must be made.

Or the easy way and cut a hole and put a vent/duct/scoop on it.

Someone on here recently used the stock hood with some ducts. I don't remember where exactly.
