Can we please stop crashing our cars?

So I was trying to find out if there is any difference between an FRS and a BRZ in terms of insurance and came across the following stats from the Insurance Bureau of Canada...

Apparently, we are some expensive customers to them.

What really stood out is the collision claim cost. FRS/BRZ collision claim costs are 194% more than the average?? Only Merc S450V/S550W, CLS500/CLS55, Mitsu Evo, and BMW x6 cost more than we do??

For comprehensive claims, we're 'only' 88% more than the average and 79% more than average for DCPD claims.

Since I'm sure many of us are personally have no claims whatsoever on our cars, are we really that expensive to repair???

And i believe all parts are imported from the motherland Japan. Unlike a civic, where there is a plant for parts in Markham or something

It's only gonna get worse....once this platform dips below $20k....the douches come out exponentially

Proof: all 2006 and older WRX

This is the one thing that the Miata had going for it - since it was perceived as a 'chick' car, it cut down on a lot of the douches who would buy one. Wound up getting the more mature, asserted crowd. The Twins on the other hand, are gunning for the younger crowd and honestly looks good to seduce anyone who doesn't care for the driving feel and winds up wrapping their car around a tree.

raven1231 10-20-2015 11:09 AM

How do you expect to fully be able to appreciate all the feels without crashing? :iono:

fang_gt86 10-20-2015 11:46 AM

More crash means less/rare 86 on the roads and more spare parts. lol

Well, since you asked nicely, ok.

ottoyu34 10-20-2015 06:05 PM

My quote for 13' FRS was actually not bad, but I have multi-car discount.

This particular one was smashed but for only a few thousand more, you can get one that wasn't.

Of course right now is the worst time of year to try selling a sports car. I expect prices to bounce back up over 20k for a clean example in the spring. Of course, if you are thinking of buying, it's a great time to be searching.

Insurance was just as much as my 2008 wrx station wagon... yes that what my hatch was marked as

FYI the RS 1.0 side skirts are $2400 & $2800 ea retail through Toyota. We had the misfortune/luck of having to order both sides for one we sold this past summer. The bodyshop I sold them to thought i smoking something when I quoted them for a collision repair. Body panels for the FR-s can be pricy at times yes.

I didn't meet you at any autocross events while I was up in NB did I? I drive the reasonably quick blue '13.

Maritime Storm 11-16-2015 06:38 AM

We don't track our car, also it spent a good portion of it's summer in Montreal this year. Generally I'm easy enough to find, I'm at the parts counter at Acadia Toyota.

DimSumHero 11-16-2015 01:39 PM

I keep getting hit myself the last one was 15 minutes after picking up my car from the body shop after it was in for getting rear ended
