1995 Honda Civic DX - Brake Lights
Ok so I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX with bare minimum equipment, aftermarket cassette player with cheapo speakers to listen to tunes, power NOTHING (no AC or PS etc. etc.)
My passenger side brake light does not work. It works as a marker light when the lights are switched "on" but if I step on the pedal the light goes out, and when I step on the brake when the lights are off the light is so dim you can't tell it actually turned on. I've been looking around trying to find just a universal import light socket for a 2057 light bulb and I keep coming up empty handed, do these fuckers even exist or do I have to order the ENTIRE assembly from Honda? Is anyone familiar with these cars and their light assemblies -- I don't want to spend that much money on a freaking light socket (the bulb works properly still). What happened was the lens' seal broke and water got in and rusted the socket, so I want to replace the socket but if I can't find an affordable solution, I'm going to try some emery cloth and scrubbing out the rust :\ I've sealed the tail light unit and no water has gotten in since I have sealed it, and its dry as a bone in there now so I'm not worried about recurring issues. |
Had almost same problem before on my G20 what i did is went to the junkyard cut a bulb socket off a sentra then rewired it on my G20 then buy a light bulb at autozone, easy and simple.

yeah thats really coming down to my last option, what a pain in the ass just to get a new socket though, you can buy a socket for a 1960-1990 chevy/ford/chrysler anything for 10$, but you can't get a socket for any kind of import older than 99. BULLLLLLLLLLLLSHIT.

Seriously...Siriusly!! $15!

I agree with 4ag, junkyard. There is always hondas there haha. But I'm sure if you can't find your exact car I'm pretty sure most hondas of thar era had the same light sockets, but don't quote me on that... just make sure when you cut out the socket you leave yourself enough wire to splice together.

If I can order that for 14.95 and not pay 30$ or something stupid in shipping, awesome. EDIT:: They don't ship outside the US -- Damnit! |
Ah, forgot you're in Canada! Shipping from the US to Canada is a bunch of b/s so I don't blame them!
There are plenty of salvage yards here in Southern CA. If you want, I can pick one up and send it to you, if you cover the fees. |
nah thats alright, thanks for the offer though - if it were something harder to get -- or something crazy ass expensive here and nice and cheap there (like oh... a nice new clutch maybe) then I'd be all for it!
