Detailed in my post on this thread (post context #117)

Exedy guy said the following:

Quote:

I have inspected the clutch set you returned.

I tested pressure plate lift ( disengagement ) and clamp load functionality.

Pressure plate lift was 1.7mm with 7.5mm of diaphragm spring movement , this was measured at 3 separate areas on the pressure plate. This exceeded the specs on outlined on the blue print.

Checked run out on the clutch disc and flywheel friction face. Both are with in tolerances and will not cause any disc drag.

The splines on the clutch disc hub are good, no burs or damage that wouldn’t allow the disc to move freely on the input shaft of the transmission.

I do not see anything that would cause the issues you were experiencing with the clutch set."
and had mentioned in an earlier email that this kind of thing is usually an installation, lubrication, or adjustment issue.

Have you considered requesting the new stage 2 part? I see a number of people got the three-puck disc back as a replacement since it seems that exedy has finally accepted that this kit had some serious issues.

If you do happen to go through with that, I'd be extremely interested in buying.

I wasn't the original owner, so I couldn't get it replaced, but that's the one I have in my car right now.

I figured this would be good for someone who needs a cheap temporary clutch. (hence the obo)

bump for another price drop

So you bought it second hand? Did the original owner have issues as well and thats why they sold it? I'm looking for a clutch at the moment, but I don't want to have issues. I know exedy had issues for a while with their clutches.
What were your issues with it?

I responded to your pm, but I wanted to post my reply for posterity.

I bought the car second hand with the clutch already installed. The previous owner claimed to not have any issues, but it felt strange to me and my shop agreed, so I switched it out for a newer model and sent this one back to Exedy.
