Lease Information?

First of all, this car looks a lot better in person than you see online (I liked it but didn't "love" it). My apologies in advance if I sound stupid (first attempt to lease). There was a thread here about a lease for BRZ and most people states it's not official (or not available, somewhere along those lines). I spoke to a manager and he said lease is available and he can order one @ MSRP.

Now, this gets more interesting. I told him to get me quotes for limited BRZ with 10K miles and 15K miles over 3 years with 0 down at MSRP. It came out to be around $500 (high $400s) EXCLUDING taxes and all, which should be around $2000 on top of the car price, roughly. That will put me into mid $500. Residuals are 61% and 59% at the end for 10K and 15K miles.

I was expecting sub $400 but I wanted to hear some thoughts from others. BMW leases are usually good so the comparison may not be appropriate but I compared with 128i, which is more expensive vehicle. That puts me roughly in $400. Thanks for reading and any comments will be appreciated.

Did I say, BRZ is awesome?

Ok, long story short, I want to obtain any information I can get for those who are leasing BRZ.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but with the limited and a couple options (Xzilon treatment, rear bumper protective applique [junk], and the auto-dimming mirror), I financed all but $1000 (my deposit on the car) of my ~$32,025 OTD price. At 3.03% over 6 years, the monthly payments are a hair above $500, including an extended warranty from the dealership. My credit is decent, but not amazing by any stretch of the imagination.

The fact that you're paying the same/more than me means you're looking at an insanely high interest rate. If you were quoted accurately on the residuals, you're paying roughly $12,500 in principal over 36 payments. If you were looking at exactly $500/month payments, that would be $18,000 that you were paying after 3 years, which would mean about a 44% interest rate..

Are you sure that he didn't mean your residuals would be 39% and 41%? If you're paying off 60% of the vehicle in 3 years, those quoted prices would make a lot more sense. If this is the case, it sounds like the lease is intending on having you buying out the car after your term due to the low amount due at its maturity.

That's about standard for a Limited. Before TTL, mine was ~28k (including destination), and just sales tax alone bumped it up to 31k. Add DMV fees, doc fees, etc, and you're pushing 32k easy.

I wound up flying up to NJ and driving back to Orlando to pick up a cancelled preorder after my own pre-order was still in wait list status 2.5 months after my pre-order date. So I'd say yeah, I really wanted it. After you figure tax, tags, doc fees, and options on the vehicle, I maybe paid $500 more than I would have to have gotten the car detailed elsewhere after buying the car, due to dealership price inflation on installed extras. This is assuming I could have located another abandoned preorder in the same trim, color, transmission, and options list I originally preordered).

I will certainly say that I did waste at least the $80 that the rear bumper applique option cost. I had the guy doing my tint remove it, as I thought it looked bad and would cause uneven fading of the paint. No idea why the original preorderer wanted that thing..

I paid msrp, tax (9.1%), title, and $399 doc for a grand total of $32,067.
BRZ Ltd with homelink mirror. Adds up quick when you throw taxes in.

that just seems crazy to me. i remember watching my friend buy his evo x for 30k. it came out to be more than that but not much. once you factor in his 0%apr...i guess its a different time

The ~$32,025 has nothing to do with APR. I financed ~$31,025, and its only my monthly payments that are affected by APR.

~$30,000 for a car that MSRPs at ~$34,500 is an insane deal; certainly well under MSRP. You're not really going to be finding that deal when demand far outweighs supply. Perhaps a few years from now, you'll be able to get a BRZ limited for under $30k OTD, but I would not expect it anytime soon.

jflogerzi 06-24-2012 06:41 PM

Don't expect 0% APR on the BRZ or FR-S for quite a while. You want 0% APR, go buy a ford fusion

Move to Oregon :D no tax.

I've got papers from my dealership saying I owe $27,612 after $1000 deposit, msrp + $770 destination and $347 title transfer fees, whenever my BRZ Limited shows up. No taxes :P

OTD price $28,612

Might try to negotiate that down to MSRP after fees, I have another dealer champing at the bit to sell me one for $30,000 right now versus this dealer with no ETA.

i know it has nothing to do with interest that is what makes it more strange to me. i know his deal is a thing of the past but its hard to think that in as little as 4 years we have gone from evo x to brz. for that kind of money i would just as well buy a spec miata and a mustang gt, ms3, gti or any one of the cheaper cars you see in the vs section. lucky im not in the market until maybe december

Enilder 06-24-2012 08:00 PM

Thanks for replies guys. I wanted to test out the car before I pull the trigger on STI or higher-end version of the vehicle.

Does anyone know the dealer margin of BRZ by chance? ~$3k I suppose?

I totally forgot about you guys out there with no taxes (and Montana, New Hampshire, and Delaware, for that matter). Not worrying about tax would be nice, but I don't regret living here at all. No front plates, vehicle inspections, or snow, and window tint (of noticable darkness) is legal, all quite different than the way things were back up in NJ and NY :P
