Im drivinh to Austin, get down on an off ramp, no water, while i turn normal my TC light comes on as if its too sensitive, anyone experienced this yet

Dirt on the road? I"ve been places where something was on the road as I turned on top of it, and the traction control activated. Or stability control. Something activated.

Bristecom 06-23-2012 11:15 PM

Remember that it's a slip light and doesn't necessarily mean it activated TC or VSC.

*KID* 06-23-2012 11:17 PM

I felt it activate, n the road looked clean

eriktherod 06-23-2012 11:36 PM

I've noticed it's sensitive but it doesn't bother me. It's my first RWD car and if I drive it like my Si, it's probably saving me from doing something stupid. That's how I see it anyways.

The light comes on when their is a issue, as in the tires broke loss while TC and VSC were on. I was responding to a fire call when it was raining, took a turn and the car broke sideways a little and the light flashed. This also happened to me when on a dirt road.

What you did wrong was buy an auto.

Kidding aside, get it into manual mode not drive and keep the rev range high. To spin them on a launch you have to hold the brakes about 80% get the revs up, then drop the brakes.

Hi *KID*

I don't have a GT 86 yet.
However, I have a BMW with a 77% LSD (clutch type LSD).

On very tight corners (e.g. if you turn at a very tight cross road corner) even at extremly low speed the LSD starts to lock a little, which may result in a very mild slip at the inner rear wheel - actually the only thing, how you know your car is equipped with an LSD at moderate speed.
It may be possible, that this warning light comes up in this moment.

Does that maybe have to do with your observation?

Sorry, folks, I should add a note here:
My clutch type LSD has a preload (i.e. some pre-locking), which makes it work also in the snow.
In contrast, a Torsen LSD can not be equipped with a preload.
So maybe I was wrong here and the FR-S will actually NOT show this behavior of my BMW in very tight corners!

Welcome to the wonderful world of rear wheel drive. If you have the opportunity or can create one, I recommend practicing weight transfer and inducing oversteer and understeer. Of course, don't practice where you can hit other people!
