Powersteering trouble

Ok so started car on couple occasions today and after about a minute of driving the power steering light came on and I had no power steering. Turned car off, left it for a minute and turned back on and was ok. Since I've had it do it more often but can't get it to a dealer to get checked till next week. Anyone had this problem? What is the problem? And will it be a big fix? Cheers

Does anything else electrical fail when the issue arises? The description is slightly vague it could be a power steering motor overheating, a power steering control unit defective or failing. EPAS is quite tricky to diagnose as most of it is essentially solid state and you need a computer to delve deep into whats going on...

Honestly, I would wait for the dealer to diagnose it if you have a warranty and no mods you really have nothing to lose, if they say they can't reproduce it demand to take a technician in the car with you to reproduce the issue yourself, and push them into replacing the entire power steering unit if it comes to them not being able to fix it you can make the point its a serious safety issue.

No only thing going is power steering. I'm booked for dealer to have a look at it but I do have a set of header on it but they shouldn't worry about it I hope? Still under warranty which is bonus. I'll be pumping them about being a safety issue

This might be an isolated issue then that we can't really diagnose based on evidence, the only other time this happened on the forum the owner had other electrical issues present. Hopefully under warranty they replace the entire rack all together if they can't find it. How many miles on the car btw?

Yeah hopefully covered by warranty. It's a 2012 model with 53000km on it

That actually happened to me and the dealership had to replace the EPS ECU. They did it without any hassle at all. I guess it also helps that I work at a Toyota dealership. LOL.

Was it a quick sort of job? Day to do or? Should be covered by warranty shouldn't it? Thanks

Yeah it didn't take them long at all. They had to order the part and then it took them just a little while to install it. Warranty covered it.

Outstanding best news I've heard for a while. Cheers mate
