My '13 BRZ Manual Transmission Experience
I got one of those that had a hard time shifting from 6th to 5th when you are over 65 MPH. Dealership did a test drive and "recommended" changing manual transmission fluid, $185 cost. I said, why should I pay to prove that there's a defect. Please submit the request to Subaru.
As I was driving home, within the hour I got an email with approval from Subaru to have the transmission replaced. After the work was done, the work order said that "Subaru stated that transmission is not serviceable and replacement is needed". I have a new transmission and no more 6th to 5th issues. Q, do you guys know if this was a 13' issue only? |

I have a 13 BRZ as well and had a grinding issue going from 6th to 5th above 3k rpm/70mph. At about 20k miles, I switched to Motul 300 from Amsoil and no longer have that grinding. I was on the Amsoil fluid from 5k to 20k miles.

2013s tend to have more "problems" only because the car is more abundant on the road, and it's seen more mileage and use.

Mine also had a weird thing when coming to a stop and shifting to 1st sometimes where the stick would buck... But that was so hard to replicate I didn't even mention it to them. |

What RPM are you shifting into 1st when coming to a stop? I was taught never to shift into 1st while the car is still rolling unless you're already cruising at say 5mph. |
