Motorcycle shoes. Lets see em.

Hey guys, so i been slowly buying gear for my motorcycle riding. I have DOT helmet, gloves, nifty leather jacket thats light and pant covers but i still cant find comfy boots/shoes that work well on a bike+walking.

See, i have flat feet from birth and being fat. Thats the truth. Therefore, i have trouble wearing Mexican style boots and heavy duty workers boots. Currently, i bought some mediocre but nice looking Rock and Republic shoe boots that cover my ankles. Its thin on bottom and comfy but i feel the protection in a case where i could fall and slide would just disintegrate the shoe/boot. My friend and i were denied a DMV driving exam due to not having proper shoes. We were both wearing sport sneakers...blah.

Anyone have any reccomendations? Or pics on what they use to ride? I know many of you twin owners ride too.

p.s. purchasing a 2015 Vulcan S in black. A cruiser bike. Not a fan of riding sports or dirt bikes. I just fell in love with it over a V star and a Honda.

.

Well I doubt the Mexican style is suitable for bike riding anyway. I can see a couple of issues off the top of my head.

I wear a set of Alpinestars S-MX Rs (not my pic):

They could hardly be called motorcycle "shoes" though. And as you pointed out you're a cruiser type. I will say, for quickie rides I just wear a pair of workboots I have (and I don't advocate that; it's a bad habit, I could break my ankles, etc.).

I can wholeheartedly recommend Revzilla for your motorcycle shopping needs:

I used to just wear my favorite leather shoes...

...but if I ever got back into it I'd probably try Dainese first. I've visited a few memorable bike shops in Italy and I was always impressed by the Dainese products. They seem to value comfort and style pretty highly-I remember seeing full one-piece race suits over there that looked like pin-striped cocktail dinner suits. :)

I always wear boots, regardless, never shoes.

If I'm going on a long ride, I prefer military (real) jump boots. Yes, they are a pain to get on, but hard to get better ankle protection.

Shorter rides where I know the speeds will be slow, I typically wear a pair of good quality steel toe work boots.

You know us Mexicans, show us a pair of shoes, turn around and they're gone!

I had a hard time finding shoes/boots as well. There were some really nice sportbike boots, but they're usually pretty stiff, and not that great for walking. I didn't ride a cruiser, but ended up going with a Harley boot. Not as good as the sportbike boot for protection, but still a motorcycle boot, and comfortable to walk around in.
Check your local Harley Davidson dealer...they might have something there that isn't covered in buckles, or chrome bits. The ones I had were similar to these...

This was a good compromise for me. They are pretty comfortable for wearing all day. They don't breathe well though since they are waterproof so I only use them in the winter:

Nice! I totally forgot about Harley stores! They'll probably laugh at a 'sports/urban' cruiser rider LOL

I like my Spidi XP3-S boots. I can honestly say they rival even my most comfortable shoes.

I have a set of these, they're awesome, in terms protection and feel its basically a race level boot without the flash or complication.

Downside, not cheap.
