How to use thread editor?

I'm trying to use the editor to post a link to another thread.

For example:

Here is a good guide for OFT usage:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71157

Isn't there some way to for me to make the text "OFT" a clickable link rather than pasting the entire link into a paragraph of text.

I tried the insert link icon in the editor but can't seem to get it to work.
Any advice on something I'm sure is very simple.

Hmmm... I've heard of people having trouble with Macs.

I'm just highlighting the text and then clicking the link button.

Try using compatibility mode in IE.

Had to add ft86club.com to IE compatibility list. Thanks. I would not have gotten that on my own.

edit:

Well it fixed the abilility to hyperlink in the editor. but totally screwed up the menus at the top of the page.

You could also just type the BBcode, works always with every browser with every OS.

Code:

[url=link to whatever[discription[/url]
just change the second [ to a ] , for some reason this forum executes bbcode inside a code tag
