Hey Tcoat,

Well, maybe not THAT bad. lol

I dunno, I see a lot of BRZ/FR-S bashing on here and it seems kind of weird seeing as most own one...:iono:

Having never heard an old Russian farm tractor I can't stand up for the statement. The guy saying it wasn't bashing it was more in humour.
I will never understand the bashing that goes on here. If people don't like it then they need to sell it and move on.

Also I think it's bad gas because my dad filled his brand new Honda Accord to the same place as me and his CEL came on. The honda dealers confirmed it and said it was the gas. I just filled up the remaining half of tank at a different place and going to see if the noise comes back

Since the sound is not that loud and as you pointed out comes and goes, that is what I would have expected the dealer to say. I can tell you that from the video you posted that is NOT coming from the fuel pump.

It is good that you documented the issue at the dealer. If it is a true problem with the engine (and I suspect it is) the condition will get worse, and the dealer will have less of an excuse to fix it since you documented the problem early on.

Keep us updated over the next few months!

so does anyone know about the other subbies like the 2.5 litre, which I understand is the predecessor of sorts to this car? Are they as noisy? Do new WRX owners complain about the same thing? or is the exhaust loud enough not to hear these small noises that make us nervous?

Hello OP. My car makes the same sound and it goes away when I rev it up a little. It also only happens when the oil is warmed up. It has been doing it for over 40,000km on mine and I drive the piss out of my car. I was waiting for it to blow up but now it is somthing I just live with. Just my 2 cents.

Im begining to feel more and more that that is the answer. You wont know there is anything wrong from the sound of the engine. Best you can do is take care of it and not be afraid to tweak them. I have heard few examples on here of actual melt downs that might not have something that can be directly correlated to some obvious bad move.

Hey everyone, today while at a red light I noticed my engine was knocking. The sound comes from passenger side by the alternator.
I know this was posted before but for some people it was considered normal and others had to fix the rods or something. The car has 5,000 miles and it's 2013 model.. Never abused or tracked. 2 days ago I installed a berk dual muffler delete. Could that cause the issue? I don't want to take it to the dealer because I know they're going to blame it on the muffler.
This is a video of the noise I made http://youtu.be/Ey5R4dQE_Ac
(Engine was warmed up)

That does not sound good.

get a long handle screwdriver or a soild metal rod, stick your ear on one end and put the other end on varios spots on engine. works like a stethoscope and you can isloate where the noise is comming from.
dont get caught up in the moving bits :D

Oh yes, you may wish to take a long screwdriver (or something like that), with the handle up to your ear and place the tip around different places to see if you can isolate the sound.
