Wtf, I hope it's not that bad as the other guys who had their engines torn apart 😔 .. Most messed up part is there's only 5k miles on the car and I baby the crap out of it. I'll drive it again tomorrow to see if it's still there .
Thanks for the info and help everyone

put the stock muffler back on then they cannot blame anything on it

N1rve 10-11-2015 02:15 AM

Yeah I had that happen at like 10k miles

Could it also be the gas? My 90 pickup makes knock sound on certain gas stations' gas.

Awww.... Optimistic but no. OP's engine is in dire need of help.

Really should be trailered to the shop to prevent more damage.

out if warranty from long time

If out of warranty who cares what exhaust you have? Not like they can deny warranty for it.

So should I put back the stock muffler or just take it the way it is? And @Tcoat I do still have warranty, only had the car for less than a year.

Oh,heck, I'd suggest you play it safe and put the muffler back on.

Not that the muffler (or lack of) has anything to do with it ...... but, with the "stock" muffler in place, there is less of a chance of them thinking you are a ... "racer boy".

Ahhh I mistook the other guy for you and thought you were saying out of warranty. Sorry.
Ya swap the exhaust back and get it in. They would have to prove the exhaust mods were a contributing factor to the failure but why make things harder then they need to be. If you have done your own maintence be prepared to prove it and if they deny warranty and you consider legal action then get back on here and have the Mods delete this thread. Or at very least don't say anything a lawyer could trace back to you (dealer location, any names, etc)

I only had one oil change done so far and it was done by them so no need for lawyers (yet) 😜

Well statisticaly speaking then you should have zero issues with them. Their standard gambit to avoid warranty work seems to be "low oil" or "not changed". The other one they like is "over revved".

Over revved as in passing the redline? Or just having it at high rpms all the time?
