Ya know what, what's in a name? :iono:

Toyota has always had one car that was their definitive lightweight sports coupe -- the Celica.

Call it the Scion Bottomburp -- it's basically as much a Celica as it is a Trueno.

(Now put a turbo'd straight 6 in it and call it a Supra)

I'd rather it be called a Toyota Corolla GT-S than a Celica, or even a Scion TE. Just not a fan of the Celica name for this car, mainly cus' the last four generations it has been FF (and AWD). Just don't think it fits the car.

They better not call it FR-S too, People recognize AE86 a lot more than GT-S if they're talking about retro branding.

just don't tell zigzagz that..

You shut your whore mouth.

ok listen maybe i am guilty of this as well because i tend to be a rather sarcastic person and sarcasm tends to get lost in translation on the internet which is just text without any tone of voice but can we please not get carried away with all the ban stick posts and name calling? i do realize i tend to be outspoken as well, if you knew me in person you'd realize i'm not an a$$ and usually just use strong words to make a point across a lot of times in an over-exaggerated way. at the same time, i want the future community that surrounds this car to be a welcoming, pay it forward type of community. no pointless insults or flaming, and going easy on the newbs. yes i am guilty of being a little hard on the newbs as well esp when it comes to not using the search function or starting unfounded rumors, but seriously we should not take for granted and sacrifice a respectful and good natured pay it forward type of community for the sake of getting a point across. not everyone's gonna see eye to eye especially because this car is attracting different types of enthusiasts with different tastes. who cares? we all like this car, so while we're here we might as well build a community around it, not a scene that talks smack and hates on each other. some of us want to see this car develop into something that others don't want, so what? if you still like the car as it develops and changes, stick around and enjoy with others that do. if you don't like it, don't diss others and flame, just go somewhere else. and if you must make a snide comment to someone it might be a good idea if you could at least put [sarcasm] in the post. i hope that when we are finally driving this car i will be able to go to meets without worrying about stupid online beef and cyber trash talk spilling over into real life.

Huhh??? You think Celica doesn't fit because it's been FF the last few generations, but COROLLA would work????:bellyroll:

Hm... see your point, but I think FT86 doesn't need Corolla or Celica name. FT86 can be it's own name and doesn't need to follow current Corolla or Celica generation.

I like my idea for calling it a Corolla GT-S. So little Billy can get mom and dad down to the Toyota dealer, all excited to look at the new 'Corolla'. You know the safe, practical, efficient Corolla.

FT86 can't be the name. "FT" stands for Future Toyota. How can it be a "Future Toyota" when it's on sale in the present (speaking from when it is on dealer lots).

LOL after b.s. unexpected acceleration news, Corolla don't have "safe, practical, efficient" titles anymore. lol

or it could be like this.... F stands for the engine (Flat or FB) and T86 is the chassis series/code! just like evey other car like the TA23, SW20, E series,,, ect

NESW20 03-08-2011 12:47 AM

i'll go with the "Corolla GT-S" name. i think i've even posted that a long, long time ago. if not, i meant to. i swear. hahaha

Midship Runabout 03-08-2011 12:55 AM

Well, considering the AE86 was a Corolla GT-S in the US... so yes it actually works. Anyways, going somewhat back to the thread topic, looks kinda odd to be a logo emblazoned on the back of a car, or on the front.
