clicking on take off

this isn't even a hard take off. even slight acceleration from a stop and I get this clicking sound from what sounds like the rear left wheel area. is this normal or anything to worry about? I have never touched the suspension of the car. I've put on new wheels and that's about it.

Check the axle nut, I had the same issue and the axle nut had backed off about half a turn. It should be crimped into the slot on the axle.
Dealership retorqued and crimped, no charge...

Axle nut loose, or axle going bad.

echo419 10-09-2015 07:58 PM

Thanks. I'll check that out

If re-torquing the existing axle nut doesn't work, i'd replace the nut and re-torque. I had the exact same problem on both rear axles, the nuts fixed it

I had the same issue albeit on a different car. G35s were notorious for this and there was a TSB on it as well. The problem - axle nuts or axles themselves like everyone else had mentioned.

I've actually have the same issue but it's in the front and it happens when I stop at times

I'll give you the rice noodle😘

echo419 10-12-2015 02:50 PM

it was a loose lug. all is well. :D

I think I have the same issue. Do you guys remember the nut size and torque spec?
TIA

echo419 10-24-2015 06:43 PM

Torque is 90 or 95 iirc. But I'm not sure.

Found the problem. Something broken in the e-brake. It was loose and causing the click. Under warranty so I don't care. :)

Pat 11-01-2015 03:50 PM

According to this link, the axle nut is 32mm and torque spec is 140 ft-lbs.

echo419 11-01-2015 07:01 PM

Oh, thought he was referring to the lugs

Should I get a new nut or can I just retorque the one I have? I'm a little worried about the crimping of said nut, as it looks like there my be a special tool necessary to do this job. Thoughts?

Yes, its best to replace the nut (got mine for $7). No special tools needed, just a good flat head screw driver an a hammer. To remove, stick the screw driver at the key/cut-out on the axle to bend back the crimp. When you're done torquing down, use screw driver tip to tap down the crimp.

Thanks, BFL! That's great news. By now I do anything I can to avoid a trip to the dealer, even if it's under warranty. For future reference, I think the part number is 902170049.[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Subaru-902170049-Axle-Nut/dp/B00I7996N8"]Link to buy on Amazon $7.64 free shipping[/ame]

I have mine especially when braking too hard and turning hard. Can even feel my hand brake vibrating like its gonna fell apart.
