Just adding my 2 cents to the car-guy vs non-car-guy argument. This is just my opinion but a non-car-guy becomes a car-guy the moment they view a vehicle as anything more than a means to an end. Most of these cars are bought by the non car guy type. If you need to manually shift gears to get the "driving experience" then you are still missing the point.

If you don't want to do it, that's fine, but the fact remains that "for the driving experience" manual is the way to go. If you look at limited edition Porches, or even the limited BRZs, they only come in manual.

Like I said, if you gotta DD in traffic or just the routes you drive make driving manual a pain rather than a pleasure, then go for the automatic. Otherwise, go for the manual because it's a part of the driving experience, and this car is about that.

If you feel the need to constantly move a hand and foot to do what the computer can much faster and more precise then you then by all means feel more engaged. Shifting gears is something that people have done since the invention of the car and is not part of the experience but a simple mechanical operation. Again I will point out that I am only referring to these cars and a very few others when I say that the autos are every bit as fun as the manuals. Some autos just plain suck (I am looking at you Mitsubishi) and do indeed take away from the "experience" but the 86 is not one of them.
