Custom Toyota Emblem thoughts?
7 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I've been thinking of completing the gt86 transformation by changing out the front emblem to a Toyota one. I do engineering mainly but I do product design on the side so I have access to prototyping shops in china that can make one-off replica prototypes at final build quality. If anyone's interested they are somewhat costly, $50-$100 for one. I haven't been quoted yet. Here's a mock-up I cad'ed quickly. Attachment 122165 Attachment 121995 While the original toyota emblem is really beautifully designed, it's got this aura around it when people see it, personally it makes me think of cheapness or blandness. I can't put a word to it but it doesn't make you say wow. The 86 emblems look horrible IMO, so I'm sticking with the Toyota emblem just removing the circle, It now kind of removes that disappointing perception and makes me think of something fancier, like a Tesla or something exotic.. does anyone else agree or do you think this looks ugly? Edit* Irace86 suggested a few ideas below, here are the cad models I mocked up Attachment 122111 Attachment 122164 Attachment 122163 Edit* Packofcrows suggested the Old Toyoto logo, heres a mockup Attachment 122183 feel free to post suggestions and I can cad them up and render them, I'm set on making something, lets all design something cool, use ms paint for all I care. I plan to get matalic painted CNC'd PC and also polished or sandblasted aluminum with 3m adhesive attached on them. again, let me know if you're interested |

Not just ugly, but fucking ugly.

Sorry, but it's ugly.
It's your car and your money. Do whatever you want. If it makes you happy, then go for it. I've had many people do a double take when they see the toyota badges on the car. While pumping gas, some dude asked me "since when did the new Supra come out?" |

With that said, in a way you made some improvement by removing the outer ring, as that seems to take the badge away from a bland state, but it also is a little odd. In some ways it looks like a halo over someone's head, and it lost the bull horn look. Yet, it could be in the right direction. I also think the 86 logo is ugly, and would love to see a badge that represents both Toyota and Subaru. Attempts at making something with the opposing pistons has failed, IMO. |

Here is the devil Toyota emblem then my terrible photoshop. Just more ideas. Check out some of the other threads on custom emblems.
I have always been a fan of the Infinity logo because the emblem is of a road and that makes sense because they are a car company, and it looks like it goes for infinity. Maybe some emblem that looks like twisty roads or something would be cool. |
confuse the shit out of everyone and put Lexus badging on it or if you really want to confuse people this would probably do it: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/400922...-1/s-l1000.jpg

Sorry, doesn't do it for me. Looks incomplete and too much like the Tesla logo.
