FA20 Engine weight?
Anyone know the engine/trans weight of a stock FA20?
Take a peek at this
http://www.vorshlag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8275 "Weight of 2.0L engine and 5-spd transmission is 493 pounds with a 13 pound dolly;" So - 480 lbs according to their scale. http://vorshlag.smugmug.com/Projects..._DSC7750-L.jpg |
so what does the transmission weigh?
Transmission is around 90lbs
so the engine is 390 lbs? / 177kg?
seems a bit heavy to me I'd say the trans is probably a bit heavier than that most 4 cylinders are in the 140Kg 300lb area |

Boxer engines have lower center of gravity, but they are heavier. You need double timing gears on each side etc.
There are iron block inline 4's that share a comparable weight to this engine. It's a heavy b*tch
My sleeved bare block is well over 100LBs I think the label from UPS was 150lb warning crank has to be around 40lbs
seeing how far back the shift lever assembly is extended and how far forward our engine sits in the engine bay makes me mad every damn time. sorry just :mad0260:
