BRZ more limited than ever?
I went on cars.com to find a new BRZ. I typed in my zip code and the nearest one is 119miles away, and ONLY 80 results for an automatic in the US. I also went to 6 dealerships and none of them have an automatic in stock. even finding a manual would be somewhat difficult. There might be 1-2 manual BRZ for sale in the whole NYC. Is it hard for you guys to one too?
There are 1121 matches for an automatic and 632 Manuals for the FRS and like I said, 80 matches for an automatic and 448 manual for the BRZ on cars.com in the United States |
I don't think cars.com has the full inventory. who knows how often they refresh their data and where they get their data from

I was just over at my Subaru dealer here in town. They had five sitting in the "sporty" row with the Imprezas. I didn't bother looking, but it wouldn't surprise me if all of them were automatics. The manuals sell quicker.
Back in New Orleans the Subaru dealer always had several on the lot, and they were always autos. The manuals tended to come in and go right back out off the lot within a week. Usually the demand is higher for autos, but it's upside down for the BRZ. The shortage you see is probably just a NY thing. Hell, I used to live there, and I wouldn't want a BRZ in the city. Cars take a real beating there. A BRZ would be trashed inside of three months. |

I recently inquired about a low-mileage 1995 Miata M Edition that an Atlanta-area BMW dealer had listed. The CARFAX that they provided showed that it sold a month ago, but they still listed it on their website and on Cars.com. They finally removed it after I sent inquiries every day for almost a week. They sent repeated emails asking what they could do to help me but never responded when I asked if the car was still available. What they wanted me to do was call so they'd get my number and hound me every day by phone, too. |
I just got back from a week in NYC. The entire time I was there I saw 1 BRZ parked outside of a firestation. At home (Washington), I typically see 2-4 per day. It may just not be a big market for them.

Go to every single dealer website in your area and click inventory. It's usually updated daily so it is pretty accurate. It should also mention in stock or in transport/awaiting delivery.
Just get a FR-S... |
At least you still have them. Here in New Zealand Subaru have stopped selling them completely. They really struggled marketing it here as they promote AWD as safe and struggled with the RWD fun fitting into that message and the implication that AWD isn't fun.

Op you do realize the 2016 is about to be out and I believe taking orders already. You really think they are gonna have any available when the 2016 is so close

Strange that some one want automatic transmission inside this type of car. I will never buy automatic, where is the fun in that...
I guess inside USA things are a bit different |
Yes 2016 is out but none of them are available in NYC to show
on the other hand, there are many WRX and even the blue series on the sales floor. |
Yes, there are no 2016 automatics showing up near NYC. There are a couple of 2015 automatics more than 100 miles away in Delaware and Maryland. For manuals, you have more options as there are a bunch of them much closer in Connecticut and New York.
