Vsc sport and Sport mode at the same time?

I reccently just bought my frs and just got past my break in period so I decided to finally press my sport mode and vsc sport mode 😬😀! Has anyone ever tried this combo before?(vsc sport and sport) Ive heard of other users just putting it on sport mode and turning off the traction completely.

DGM33 09-27-2015 12:55 AM

Every time I drive.

Pushing the buttons does not completely turn the nannys off just numbs them to a point where you have to start really pushing the limits before they kick in. To really turn them off you have to start pulling fuses or do "the pedal dance".
Now mind you, if anybody is pushing their car to the limits where you need them completely off while driving on the street they are likely going to end up dead or in jail anyway.

VCS sports only allows you to slide slightly more before the car cuts in. I don't like "sport mode" because it only allows the transmission to hold the gears longer. You're better off in the M mode because even in "sport", the transmission lugs in too high of a gear sometimes.

cdq85 09-27-2015 02:10 AM

Holy shit. You found the turbo

Super Dave 09-27-2015 03:16 AM

I have no idea what your talking about. I shift gears when I want to using a clutch. The real mans transmission.

Just kidding im not that guy.... I test drove an auto and turned those on. It was quite a bit of fun!

Does holding down the far left button(OFF) for three seconds do the same as the "pedal dance"? When I do that the car will go sideways like the nannies(traction control and VSC) are off.

No, they're not the same.

The "Pedal Dance" is a diagnostic mode that turns every electronic assist off but may in turn make the car feel off-balance from certain anecdotes on this forum since there is no more ABS I believe.

Impureclient 09-27-2015 03:31 AM

So just adding no power steering and brakes along with the traction control and VSC with that dance?

Power brakes and steering still there. Gotta pull fuses to get rid of those and probably die in the process.
Even the pedal dance leaves some controls in place. They are minimal but they are there. For some strange reason they really seem to be worried that people will kill themselves.

Since this brand is marketed towards younger folk, they probably want to keep the car as safe as possible, I'd bet.

I don't trust 16-25 year olds behind the wheel. To the point I've stopped texting and driving because they're too unpredictable and I actually need to watch the road so I know what they're doing.

Can't tell if being serious or not.

Especially with the red part.

The pedal dance does absolutely nothing to the steering in fact no button in the car effects steering this is completely different and because it seems you have no clue what any of the buttons do I'd stay away from the pedal dance if I were you. All you need to know is it fully disables essentially all traction functions/assists except for ABS, and its not something you should really play around with on the street

"The Pedal Dance" just seems like a really weird idea to me. It reminds me of putting in a cheat code for a video game.

Impureclient 09-27-2015 05:49 AM

I still don't get it, I'm a retard here. Holding down the trac Off button for 3 seconds will allow you to do donuts, drift, whatever all day and nothing feels like
it's holding back the car any like if you just push the trac off or VSC buttons. Can anybody explain exactly, like I am a child, what the dance does different from the OFF button being held for 3 seconds?

When you hold the trac off button yes you can drift and do doughnuts but the computer is still distributing brake force and still actually in control, in fact you can sometimes feel the inner wheel being braked slightly if your intuitive enough. The pedal dance COMPLETELY DISABLES THE DISTRIBUTION OF BRAKE FORCE!

To quote @CSG Mike posts here:

and here:

"Without the brake dance, if you upset the car's computers enough, it will still re-engage traction and stability control. This specifically involves enough of a loss of traction that you're getting what the ECU believe to be uncontrolled wheelspin, the equivalent of lifting a rear wheel. The slip light will turn solid, and the traction/stability lights will turn off. After the "uncontrolled wheel spin" is eliminated, the slip light will turn off, and the traction/stability lights will turn back on (indicating that the systems are again "disabled")"

Honestly from from your post you seem to like hooning like all of us and the pedal dance isn't necessary to do a few doughnuts and sideways action in a parking lot

humdizzle 09-27-2015 09:59 AM

interesting i didn't know about the pedal dance.

but yeah holding the tcs button for a few seconds allows plenty of slip angle for me (and chris harris)

That's a completely valid concern...

Markk 09-27-2015 12:14 PM

LOL this is a common dilemma I know to well. Im more worried about other drivers. first week of owning my frs was a nightmare. I realized that people dont like to check their blind spots. damn those toronto drivers!

Markk 09-27-2015 12:16 PM

But thanks for the tips, still new to these types of driving modes. my old beater only had a normal mode haha. ;)

Yeah, I've had a couple of those damn kids scare the hell out of me as well. I was on my way to work the late shift at the drag club yesterday driving my favorite route, had the cruise control set at about 50 to collect some good datalogs. This is a nice rural road with very little traffic, a couple of 4-ways and some nice twisties. I had gotten a late start so I was looking at myself in the mirror and trying to get my makeup finished, but I was still paying attention to what was going on. I noticed at the upcoming intersection one of those young kids was coming up to the 4-way stop on my left pretty quickly and since the stop sign on my lane doesn't have the white border around it I usually just ignore it and rather than stop I just slow down a little bit. Anyway, like I said I was running a little late and was trying to get my makeup done, I totally forgot that I hadn't finished the first beer in the cupholder and when I reached over to grab another one out of the cooler that stupid kid pulled right out in front of me without coming to a complete stop. I know for a fact that his stop sign has the white border all the way around it and it is clearly marked 4-way stop so he was completely in the wrong. I wasn't sure exactly what to do as I was approaching him rather quickly, now it's hard to describe but once you go through that intersection you climb a slight hill which leads to a blind corner to the left. Most of time I won't pass in this area but since I was already running late and it was getting dark I figured it was no big deal cause I could probably see the oncoming lights. As I went to go around him the little asshole started to speed up like he wanted to race. Now I was already pissed off that he cut me off and it didn't help that my only cupholder was occupied and I had no place to set my beer down. I was trying to steer with my knees so I didn't get makeup all over the car. It's times like these where I wish I had an automatic, but I was able to downshift and get around him but it took a little longer than normal and when I cut back over he was right on my tail. At this point I'd had enough. I figured the best thing to do was to brake check him so he would know I was pissed, I hurried up and finished the first beer and tossed the can out the window, normally I wouldn't do that because I recycle but I was mad and my anger got the best of me. I was spending so much time trying to block him from passing me I totally didn't see the light ahead of me change to red. I had to slam on the brakes so hard that I ended up spilling my beer. It wasn't an expensive microbrew, but still I hate spilling beer in my car! The good news is that I got his liscense number and when I called the Sherrif to explain the situation they asked me if I was driving a whiteout, I said yeah, how did you know? That little bastard kid called the cops on me and tried to make it sound like I was the one in the wrong. I've been driving for nearly forty years and I have never spilled a beer in the car before this bad, well at least since I got out of prison. I think the cop understood my position, but I'm not sure, he seemed kind of young himself. I don't think he had much training because he acted like he'd never heard of the white bordered stop sign rule either. He said that they have been getting lots of calls lately and might have to step up enforcement on that road. I said that would be a good idea and that maybe they will catch that little bastard. Damn kids! It was a good thing I didn't have pedal dance enabled or shit could have gotten ugly.
