Gas cap inside not fully painted?
1 Attachment(s)
I bought a brand new 2015 brz and when I opened the gas cap you can see that it's missing
Paint due to how it was painted. They sprayed the cap but one part is white since it didn't reach it. Can anyone clarify this for me if their cars are the same inside the gas cap. The car I bought had to be sent from a couple hours away and had about 120 miles on it. I'm guessing it was a test car for people to try out. But I am worried that this car was possibly crashed and repainted by the dealership as they made Me wait a long time to just get my car... They had me pick it up like 2 hours after they originally planned for me to pick it up and it was dark so you can't see any imperfections until the next day. Attachment 121011 If you look at the bottom of the gas cap the bottom is white not the wrb |
Gas cap inside not fully painted?
Also can a dealer repaint and fix a crashed brz that say a customer was test driving and crashed it. And then they fix it them selves and not report it into the carfax or whatever it's suppose to be and then sell it

Small areas like that are not uncommon on new cars and not an issue.
Having 120 miles on it is nothing especially if they had to drive 2 hours to another dealer. There are plenty of brand new ones out there with many more miles. All depends on where they ended up in all the lots during transit. Doesn't mean they were driven. Small damage is also fairly common in transit and repairs are completed by the dealer. Not something to worry about since if it was major the car would be written off and struck from inventory. |
Gas cap inside not fully painted?
It was stated 129 miles odometer then I received it wit 149 The location it came from, you can tell they used a truck to transport it as it is much further than 149 miles

I'm sure it wasn't in a damage. If it was, they would had saved the trouble and repaint the car white again instead of WRB.

I hope someone with a WRB BRZ verifies this.

First new car?
If you're really worried about it, run the carfax on your car. Dealerships aren't going to fix major damage on a car without using their insurance. Anything requiring a respray of the gas cap would likely be major damage, given its placement on the body. |

Thin paint in hidden areas is within spec, cars rack up miles going from plant to lot, lot to port, port to port, port to lot, lot to transfer lot, transfer lot to dealer and then around the dealer lot. Yes, some get cars with 3 or 4 miles and some get cars with 120 or 130. It is just the luck of the draw. |
K thanks for all the replies hopefully another wrb owner can clarify thus

My 2013 Asphalt bought brand new also as less paint in this particular area.
Also, pretty much every car I bought for the last 25 years had the same thing in "hard to reach" areas... Sometimes under the hood they don't even apply clear coat... you can see the "shine" just isn't there... Like said - no worries - enjoy your new car  |
lol. can confirm all wrb brz caps are like this. i have a 2014 and mine looks exactly like this.

This is the weirdest thing to notice on a new car...... actually on any car

Gas cap inside not fully painted?
Well I was really paranoid that they were trying to hide something. They told me to come pick up the car and when I get to the dealership I don't get the car for another 2-3 hours until the sun went down. No explanation or anything other than the sales rep saying they went to get gas. U can't see any scratches or imperfections when there is no sun light. Thanks for all the replies
