Inland Empire FRS/BRZ's

Hey guys-
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a group in the San Bernardino/Riverside area. I certainly don't want to step on anyone's toes- knowing that inland86 meets on Friday nights, but heading down to Chino isn't always feasible on Friday nights.

I've seen a lot of FRS's and BRZ's out here and figured I'd see if anyone was up for something on Mondays or Tuesdays. I think a good possible meeting place could be University Village in Riverside, which, coincidentally, was where I first saw an FRS when they were a brand new model. Of course, other places could work also depending on where people have to come from.

Let me know what you think or if you're interested

Hey, this is Phil from the Inland86 meets. I'm one of the hosts of that meet. I just wanted to let you know that we welcome more gatherings of FRS/BRZ's. You will not be stepping on our toes. And we wish you nothing but success in bringing the people on the more eastern side of the IE.

Thanks Phil- I'm glad the community is so accepting. Though judging by the responses to this, it seems DOA

lol I see a bunch of twins around over here but like, I feel that they're not part of the forums or anything like that. They don't even wanna look at me let alone wave or anything when we drive past each other; I'm just trying to wave & say hi to them :sigh:

Having visited California recently (coming in from Texas) and going to group meets that are posted here - most people do not actively use these forums. A lot happens behind the scenes and people often have Facebook groups set up for their weekly/bi-weekly/monthly meet. If you're one of the first people there (due to arriving at the start time) you'll see little at first and people eventually trickle in within the first hour to fill the location.

My advice: attend the meet once or twice, get a feel for it, and make some friends if you want to keep going to it. I only showed up to it once before I left though the turnout was around nine people (usually there are more from what I have been told). I was there on the 18th sporting my Texas plates and non-compliant California emissions Subaru... complaint in Texas though (:

And yes - it is always at Cafe86... just don't miss the turn like I did the first time... but if you do... just talk to a guy that is in the back unloading packages from a truck as I surprised that guy a little bit... he looked at me, I looked at him, and we exchanged words for five minutes.

I've noticed that, also. Though that used to be me before I restored my 951 and realized how much of a resource the forums could be.

It's almost the complete opposite of when I take my MR2 out- anyone who has owned, owns, or wants to own one waves and wants to talk about it. Wish the Inland Empire FRS community was like that...

Yeah I get what you mean. lol some of the people around here with these cars are just like snobs or something.. I'm just trying to be friendly & wave & they literally will NOT look at me or acknowledge me whatsoever. lol but oh well. :iono:

Maybe.. but it's also possible that a lot of the people around the more eastern IE aren't on the forums. Or at least possibly don't go to these forums.

One thing that people used to do that I thought was pretty effective was to print up little cards that say something like.... "Really love your car! If you're interested in attending a meet of other FRS / BRZ owners, come check out xxxxxxxx".

And everytime that you run into an 86, place one of these cards on their window near the driver's side door handle. You'll start to see people who will be interested in meeting.

It's not just people in the IE that don't wave, see plenty of FR-S/BR-Z outside that area that don't wave. It's NOT a requirement to wave at others or sign up for this forum when you buy this car or any car period. :bonk: As I posted in another thread, not everybody gives a shit about seeing another person with the same car. I don't wave at others, unless I happen to actually know you. If you really want to meet other FR-S/BR-Z owners attend a meet.
