Got to test drive their new kit. I have to say for the price and performance you get out of it...Im very impressed

There's tons of turbo kits in that price range or cheaper that run intercoolers. It's just a bad idea in general to omit one because you're increasing the risk of knock.
Lemme put it this way, if a cheapass CX racing turbo kit has an intercooler, there is no excuse Crawford shouldn't include one.

I have to say... Crawford makes me nervous. I don't understand why their dyno graphs are posted in crank figures when everyone else posts WHP and WTQ figures. Seems slightly dishonest to me. When asked about it elsewhere, their response was 'You can't be serious'.

This kit should be pushing more than 100hp on E85 as well, I must be honest. For the price it really isn't putting out numbers comparable to others in the price range.

Some may like this, but I don't understand the real idea behind this unit. Not to be negative! Just my thoughts...

This is true. Although, they do offer a intercooler option to the kit if wanted.

Crawford's own dyno shows a 200hp baseline (okay slightly less) and about 280 with the turbo.

Are these crank figures, or are both plots on E85? Either way, that's a pretty marginal gain for running 12psi. The greddy kit makes more power, on 91, with less boost, which to me, means less risk.

Also, based on pics, it looks like the charge pipe runs over the oil filter, so.... can you even fit an oil cooler with this thing?

Crawford admitted... these are crank figures. Seems deceiving... huh?

Name kit +100, really adds 91, and requires E85.

What happens for those that don't have E85?

Probably can't run pump gas due to high IATs. If only there were some method to cool the hot air

BRZoomTX 09-23-2015 11:31 PM

IAT would be way too high to run 12psi on pump gas with this and have no knock. Crawford failed here unfortunately.

270crank HP I'd probably put anywhere from 220-240whp... Not impressive at all, and that is on 12psi! Ask yourself: do you really want to run so much boost on a high compression motor, on pump gas, with nothing cooling the air?

SBD still dominates the budget kit market at this point.

It must be nice living in Crawford's "low-cost" world. $4400 w/o intercooler?! $1400 more for the intercooler and plumbing. Full Blown, MAP, Revolutions Performance, Greddy, SBD, AVO, ETC. Essentially, every other kit on the market is capable of more, safe, power; for less money.

Are people really buying Crawford's stuff?

These guys have been in their own reality for a while now. It would be one thing if they charged high prices for really nice fabrication but that's not even the case. They are the Hennessey of the Subaru world.
