Burnt smell after braking?

Just wondering how hard do you track, canyon, autox guys brake before smelling something from the brakes? I never notice this before, but lately when I brake, I get this burnt smell from the brakes. I know for sure it's not rubber smell or the clutch. I have been driving more spiritedly and braking harder than I used to, but I am just not sure if it's something I should look into.

I smell brakes after driving around town. Hawk HPS.

most likely brakes if its kind of a metallic burning type smell. I guess you could get out of the car and smell them after a hard run to see for sure.

What pads are you on? The stock pads don't take much to burn. One hard brake at moderate speed is all it takes.

I see you joined in August, so I assume you might still have stock brake pads. It doesnt take much effort to make them smell. My brakes smelled after ever ride for first two weeks.

Yea, it's stock. I've had this car for over a year now, and I just recently started to drive like I was supposed to

So you've been driving it wrong all this time? I started driving mine the "right way" as soon I got out of dealer's lot.

Brakes? Who needs brakes?? These cars only need them when you catch up to the person in front of you:cool:

Our stock brakes heat up very quickly.. And you'll notice they squeak. This will only get worse higher performing brakes.

They definitely get warm when I work my stock brakes.
My car is still in the 7k/mile range, so I'm on the stockers, but will be ordering some Stoptech street performance, and centric premiums in spring to freshen it all up. I'm a big fan of the stoptech pads of a livable setup.

Yup switched out the stock pads and no more burning smell. Switched out the stock clutch and no more burning smell with that either.

I started driving mine "the right way" even before I knew it was my car. :)

It took me by surprise when the dealer told me - "Yep - that's the only SWP on the lot" - I am a fan of hard break-ins, though so whatever.
