Hi Fellas! Please give me the advice between ST or Tein Flex Z

Flex Z is the newest coilover and I think they are almost the same price! however, ST is fixed on damping only height adjustable. 40% cornering 60% comfortable. few times on track! How would you recommend? Thanks in advance:thanks:

flex z

Obviously flex Z. I feel most of the american made suspensions are based on the philosophy "as long as it workes, it's fine." instead of more & more fine tunings. >.>

ST if you're going to spend more time on the street. Flex Z if you'll be spending more time on the track.

Why do you say that? I don't recommend the Flex Z for people who will be spending any significant amount of time on track.

Flex Z > ST

It's a relative comparison, not a recommendation. So I'm referring mostly to spring rate. I'm definitely not recommending them for people spending significant time at the track. I couldn't really make that call. My meaning is that they're more track oriented than the very softly sprung STs, not that he should buy them as something to use racing. After all we are talking about $800 springs and dampers here.

You can also look around for discounted or lightly used street flex. As far as I know, very similar performance characteristics.

Has Tein worked on their quality?

Any of the Tein products I've interacted with in the past have been no better than the typical cheap coilovers, and have blown within a year on the street.

My WRX's Tein Street coilovers blew in just over a year, and Tein couldn't rebuild them, neither could the local coilover guru.

The ST's in my Forester lasted 70k miles, quite a few were autox, and after 3 years they rebuilt them and got them back to me in a week.

Is my experience with the two companies opposite to what most people are having, or perhaps at least in this platform?

Did you buy a counterfeit? Tein has a fully staffed facility stateside, and services dampers in North America locally.

Nope. They were legitimate Teins. It was quite a while ago, (2008?) So I'm not sure if their service has changed at all since then.

It was two blown struts, (one front, one rear,) all within their height and adjustment ranges.

Mike, while you're in here, are you able to chime in on the quality of both ride and overall of Tein vs ST/KW?

I know the ST's are the budget KW's, and my experience has been stellar with them, but if things have changed with Tein, or if I had a one off bad experience, I'd like to know!

Thanks
