How Do You Stay Fit? General Fitness Thread

Hey everyone, and how's it going?

http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...pshvp9ez82.jpg

How do you stay fit? Do you exercise once a week? Three times a week? Every day of the week? Or are your only squats involved in getting in and out of our cars? It'd be nice to see what people are doing to stay healthy and also as a general fitness thread for meat heads and couch potatoes alike.

My week consists of lots of running. Intervals, long slow distance runs, and the occasional tempo run through the woods. Physical therapy for my shoulder 3x a week, and adequate calisthenics. Previously was keeping my routine based around Tough Mudders I'd run or some random 5km runs.

I've been seeing a personal trainer for the past year. Finding the right trainer that knows what they're doing makes a HUGE difference. Learned a lot from him (how important dieting is, and what kind of intensity you need to hit to see results)

I've been doing 4 days a week.

Day 1 - Legs and core
Day 2 - Chest, triceps, and core
Day 3 - Back, biceps, shoulders, and core
Day 4 - Arms and core
Rest for 3 days then repeat

Now it's changed to a 6 days a week

Day 1 - Legs and core
Day 2 - Back, biceps, and core
Day 3 - Chest, triceps, shoulders, and core
Repeat days 1, 2, and 3, then rest 1 day

Contrary to appearances and popular belief my job can make me walk several miles every day. This is the only "exercise" I get though and have never once in my life set foot in a gym or performed formal exercises (school and military time aside that is). I smoke, drink and sit around but at my last physical the doctor said I am in the condition expected of somebody 20 years younger. God bless genetics!

Interesting split. I typically go with the below:

Day 1 - Arms / chest
Day 2 - Back / shoulders
Day 3 - Legs
Core and 30 mins of elliptical every day

Do you find that you can still push chest exercises having done biceps the day before? I'm thinking exercises like the butterfly might be more difficult because they also hit the bicep...

Interesting combo. I prefer to work on larger muscles one day and then either later that day or the next, do small muscles. I.e. chest and back and then arms.

yes, because when you're working your chest, your triceps will be worked as well (shouldn't really be your biceps, but like you said maybe chest flies only if you get the DOMS). I don't really get sore anymore unless the routine has changed. Also, I've had chest and triceps first, then back and biceps the next day, but i think it's reversed now to trick your body so it doesn't fall into the same routine

Have you considered grouping chest with triceps on a day, and back with biceps on the next day? Working your back will work your biceps, so you may as well finish off your back workout with bicep exercises and get a good pump.

Does masturbating furiously count?

Gym every day. Routine varies depending on whether I'm cutting, bulking, or just doing maintenance. And a boringly healthy diet.

since about feb. i started really getting into fitness,
ive lost close to 25lbs, mainly doing cardio and eating better,
i have one cheat day a week, and its usually small

the past month or so i have switched it up because my body was starting to plateau and i wast loosing anymore weight, been doing alot more weights with less cardio

besides going to the gym, ive been really big into going Hiking lately, hiked almost 20 miles a few weeks ago, felt really good about it

now that its going to be getting colder in the next few weeks ill be limited to just straight gym, hopefully the cold will motivate me more to do more!

yes! eating is the most important part.
drives me nuts when people look for some special weight loss pill or some magic machine that requires not moving.

exercise + eating healthy = results

I had started doing P90x with a few friends during the summer but once they stopped doing it though, I lost motivation to do it too
