Oil catchcan for GT86

Hello. New to the forum, and yes, I've searched. I'm a beginner when it comes to car engines, but know a bit. I've got a GT86 with a Vortech Supercharger. I understand that when you go FI you burn more oil, fumes go into the fuel injection system and messes stuff up.

I've been looking at catch cans, and understand that I need a "baffled" one for the fumes to condense on. I thought the Mishimoto one seemed appropiate. Anyone got experience, does it work well?

Also, the oil that ends up in the catch can, throw away or put back in the engine?

Thanks for any replies.
Best regards from Sweden,
Carlsson

Hello Carlsson,

I haven't had personal experience with the Mishimoto AOS tank but I have used their other products and have always had great experience with them. You can put the condensed oil back in the engine. The only time you wouldn't mix it back in if you have an Air/Oil separator tank that is open atmosphere. Because condensation will mix in with the oil.

Would this be the correct way to mount the catch can? There's no other way it enters the fuel injection system?

I have one. it works well. collects oil.

according to Mishimoto, the crankcase vent to intake tube didn't collect oil. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=39

However see my post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=169

Interesting. What do you mean it didn't collect any oil? Seems to me in the post that they got some oil in the can.

They're also speaking of a "Check Valve" so boost won't enter the crank case. Is there a possibility of boost going from the intake down into the PCV valve?

Check the mishimoto post. The PCV can got oil. They stated the other can at the crankcase breather/intake had no oil. They decided to sell a PCV can.

I have the PCV can and it collects oil. I, however found some oil in the intake tube as well. I plan to get a second can for this.

I got Vortech supercharger and I use Radium dual oil catch can. I highly recommend it. It is one of the most high quality part Iv ever ordered.

You will need to drain the oil. And you can order quick drain valve & pipe from them.

I think the AVO one put oil back to the engine.
