Front License plate

I know there is the front plate relocators that can be bought but I have also see people put the front plate on their dash and was wondering if anyone else does this if they had problems with cops

i did this in my old car,

no problems, but IMO it looks tacky

Putting it on the dash is unsafe in an accident. Might as well put a saw blade on the dash.

You may or may not have problems with cops. I don't believe there is any jurisdiction that it is legal though.
Ask yourself, is it worth attracting extra unwanted attention just to not have a plate on the front of your car? You want to hand the cops a written invitation to pull you over?
Besides, I personally think that a plate on the dash just looks ghetto anyway. When your region requires plates and everybody has them nobody notices them on the bumper anyway.

the first thing I bought for my car was a license plate relocation kit for the front. I hate how the front of the car looks with the stock license plate. But its better than getting a ref ticket when the cops pop you because you have no front licenses plate.

I had mine in the dash. IMO most of the time cops don't notice. When I had mine in the dash I got more attention for it then. My front plate is now in the trunk.

Honestly, a bright license plate looks great on the FR-S (and GT86) grille front and centre in my opinion.

It doesn't look as good for the BRZ grille unless you get one of those license plate holder incorporated plastic bumpers though.

I am with you on this. The side mount messes with my sense of proportion, on the dash looks like something is broken and none just looks weird since I have been seeing plates on the front for 50+ years. A nice frame and tinted cover (also illegal but I take my chances) and I consider my plate in the centre as a cosmetic mod.

So having no front plate visible is actually less noticeable?

How much would a ticket be for that violation?

in my experience. Having a plate in the dash kinda draw your eyes that direction.

In my experience the ticket was 225. But it was a fix-it ticket. I put the plate back on. Went to the traffic place and paid 25 bucks and the ticket was dropped.

It isn't just the price of the no plate ticket that you need to be concerned with. It is the simple fact you are attracting attention to yourself. Where you may get off with not being pulled over or a simple a warning for some small infraction you are now opening yourself up to having more thrown at you.
It is only a licence plate. Center mount it or side mount it and be done.

who cares about the no license plate ticket...

We in California have to deal with cops asking us or forcing us to pop our hoods ( main reason why I stopped modding cars ... and got into competitive pistol shooting) and if they find anything on your engine bay. They send you to the state smog ref ... And worst could brand your car as a gross polluter and have to smog check every year with a test only place or a state run smog ref...

And basically if your smogging with a state ref... You cant even have a freaking radiator cap. If mod is on your engine it better have a carb legal sticker...

Don't give them a reason to pull you over. If you have other mods, that front plate might cost a lot more - removing tints, exhausts, and general harassment.

IMO, It's not worth having a cleaner look. The FR-S has a great place to put the font plate, since it doesn't detract from the lines of the car.
