Yes, CF hoods could have the same issue. Although CF being more brittle than Aluminum might just shatter into a million pieces rather than become a projectile (without careful crash engineering.) I am not an engineer so I have no clue. The point about CF hoods has come up in threads in the past. In the end crash safety engineering this is a point that should be considered when either replacing or venting the hood no matter the make.
