Rock chips
I have large rock chips, small rock chips and some weird looking straight line that chipped the paint off
I recently polished the car, and then I painted with a brush and a tooth pick the chips. Then, I sanded with water and 2000 grit sand paper. I started compounding with my hand, there was still smear of paint and the affect area was still clear So I went over with my polisher at level 3 and the sand mark was still there So I lopsided, still there What now? |
Well, now, your first mistake was polishing the car ..... THEN applying the paint.
I'd suggest you start over. * strip off all the old wax/polish with alcohol * lightly rough up the chips with wet sandpaper * apply touch up paint * let dry * sand off high spots * apply clear coat * have a drink and take a nap * wax after paint/clearcoat dries humfrz |

Hum nailed it with the corrective action. |
How do I take off the sanding marks?
I use meg compound and polish |

Then clean up the area with alcohol ...... vodka or gin ..... either will work .... :D THEN apply the touch up paint. If your talking about sanding marks (from knocking off the high spots after painting), I'd suggest you smooth them off with dry wool sock stretched over a sanding block (the top of the vodka or gin bottle will do).......;) humfrz |

Hahaha, done. Thanks, the car looks slightly better! I still think it would need more attention and patience Thanks buddy. |
