What should my FR-S sound like?

Okay so this is going to should odd but i have recent bought a brand new 2016 FR-S around two months ago but I have already had a problem with it. I had to get my fuel pump replaced because of the loud chirping sound that I've read about happening to some of you guys. I got that done today but I'm still not convinced that the original sound of my FR-S is back it still sounds like theres a chirping sound to it but this time its deeper. I was wondering if you guys could post the audio of a non modded FR-S to compare it to what i have currently or tell me what you guys this about this problem, thank you!

This is the before sound:

Sounds normal to me. The second clip, it could just be the boxer engine sound.

A woman moaning is how it should sound.

HELLO @Javiermaldonado, and WELCOME to The Forum ..... and FR-S ownership ......

Your car (before and after) sounds to me like a running FR-S engine with direct injection and a HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump).

I'd suggest you get used to it ...... that's just the way it is.

Some folks keep changing fuel pumps, some folks add "snake oil" to the gas tank, some keep switching gas/stations ...... many of us just get on with the fun driving experience.

Why does it make a "chirping" sound .. ?? Because it is a very high pressure, mechanically driven, piston type pump. Why? Because it has to overcome the high pressures in the combustion chambers to squirt the gasoline in.

So, when your friends ask ...... what is that sound ? ...... you could just tell some of them that this high performance engine, with 12:1 compression ratio, has TWO fuel injection systems, one of them a DIRECT injection system ..... thus creating the very high performance .....

Thank you so much for this reassurance one of the guys from the dealership told me that awhile ago they had a problem because of the high pressure but because I went there about six times I didn't want to go back another time but now that I know the current sound of my FR-S is normal I'm satisfied to know!

Also thank you for the other responses although some were quite sarcastic thank you

Just a heads up for future reference:

These cars make all sorts of weird and wonderful noises. Suspension thunks, engine clicks clanks and buzzes, rattles from everywhere, road and tire noise and every pebble you throw up into the wheel wells will sound like a gun shot. It is the nature of the type of car and they will not go away but that does not mean there is anything wrong.

Your paint is going to get chipped. Get a clear bra or a touch up pen and live with it. There is nothing you or the dealer can do about it.

There are many small issues that have already been talked to death. If something comes up take a look through the threads and see if it is already here before starting a new one. The search function on here sucks and you are better off just using Goggle though.

There are 100s of mods you can do to increase performance and as many people will tell you what you should do first. Drive it for a while, figure out what you want from it, read up on the subject in the sub forums here. Then ask questions in the appropriate places once you have an idea of what you are doing.

This forum has a larger then normal social aspect to it and that means people will make jokes. Do not take every joking comment as hurtful sarcasm or written in anger.

Welcome to one of the most active car forums on the internet now learn and have fun!

Dammit, and I thought my insurance was fleecing me when they classed it as a "high performance" vehicle...

I wonder if your run-of-the-mill BMW turbo-diesels get classified as "high performance". Because they can sure pull a lot harder than I can.
