Dealer is trying to sell me an FR-S with leather seats?
Hey everyone,
Long story short I have been in the market for a new car. My local toyota dealer has informed me that they have an FR-S coming in my color and transmission preference. The thing is, they will only sell me the car with either special wheels or leather seats. I was confused as to how it can come with leather seats because I thought there was no option for them in the Scion FR-S. They told me that due to the limited supply they will be selling their FR-S inventory with either upgraded wheels or leather. Does anyone have any idea what these seats look like? Are they like the BRZ seats? Anyways, I told them that I would prefer leather seats. They are asking for $27,656 before taxes and license fees. Do you guys think it is worth dropping an extra $2,500 for the seats? Or does all this seem fishy? |
They are gouging the price. Leather is just something they are doing, not factory option. Go somewhere else that will sell to you for a fair price. If you really like leather do it later for cheaper at a shop you prefer

I told my dealer that I would only pay MSRP, even though I knew they wouldn't over charge, because they are awesome. You can demand them not too, but I don't know if they will listen :( |
The Only way dealers make money on the frs is to put silly upgrades like that.
Most leather seats installed by dealers are full leather and not with the alcantara combo. I suggest looking for another dealer and pay msrp |

Is it worth it? Not to me at all. Seems some dealers, to squeeze more $$ out of people are doing aftermarket leather installs, sending them out to get it done aftermarket and to pad their profit. Personally, I wouldn't deal with a dealer like this ever. If you can give me what I want, I take my business elsewhere. |
I agree with the others, the dealer is just greedy. Find a other dealer if they at forcing this crap on you.
It is not lke the dealer is not making money selling the car at MSRP... |
im sure charging $2500 they are probably doubling their money on the seats!

Back away from that shizzle unless you see it and absolutely love the leather job they did and the wheels they added (which I doubt you will).
|
Curious what the wheel option and price is.
|
For that price you might as well just get a BRZ Limited and get a hell of a LOT more for your money.
|
Never ever get upgraded wheels already installed on a new car. Not only do you pay 50-100% more for them versus what you could order them for from an online OEM dealer, but they most likely will not give you the original set of wheels/tires either, making the deal almost double in price again.

Power Scion of Irvine right? They are doing the same thing to me.

Hate when dealerships try to pull a fast one by adding BS add-ons. Same crap happened to me from Miller Scion of Anaheim. This is the invoice that they sent me
