Pulled over for mods and which/why?

Just want an idea of what people have been pulled over for and why.
Exhaust, too low, tint, or just cause the car looks fast lol.
Be great to get location, reason, and result.

Stancing hard bro

nyrip 09-08-2015 05:11 PM

I have been pulled over for loud exhaust, but texas plates let me get away scott-free. But it takes A REALLY loud setup to draw attention.

Back in my S2000 HellaFlush days, I would get pulled over all the time. Mostly for "not coming to a complete stop at stop signs", which was complete BS. Not once did I ever get pulled over again when the car was changed up. Which I'm glad I did for obvious reasons.

Lol good job! Much better!

1. In San Diego or Irvine tints can get you yanked just about anytime
2. In Huntington Beach / Balboa tail lights
3. In Santa Ana and Corona, nothing they love car culture there! Just don't park illegally and always stop fully at stop signs.
4. In any part of South Orange County all the way to Oceanside, DWB.

Irvine is uppity about their shit. I got my exhaust done by Big B and had the scariest time driving home lol. Had to go through Irvine where cops get on your case for anything.

MisterSheep 09-08-2015 05:51 PM

I've never been pulled over in any of the peformance cars I've owned.

94 300zx TT pushing 358whp. Full exhaust. 1/2 inch off the group. Really dark tint.

03 wrx full 3 inch turboback exhaust, FMIC, and HKS BOV.

It usually takes something very minor; excelerating too quickly with loud exhaust, having a light out, not having your license plate on your front bumper, not coming to a complete stop, registration, etc. They will try to find some way to pull you over. I have not once been pulled over in my performance cars but I have been pulled over for doing 75 on the freeway, which is BS. I had my little brother in the front seat and he had his seat reclined because he was sleeping and I was in the carpool lane so he prob tried pulling me over for that.

But once you're modded. They might find any reason to pull you over.

Drive Safe:)

Irvine. First day of high school. Cop stands at the corner of the red light handing out J-Walking tickets.

Irvine. Where you need to call 2 additional squad cars as backup to give a biker (bicycle, NOT MOTORcycle) a ticket for not wearing a helmet.

I've been pulled over in heavy traffic during rush hour for my tint.

Kostamojen 09-08-2015 06:55 PM

I never get pulled over, but the majority of people I know get pulled over for front tint and missing front plates. Exhausts only seem to get pulled over if they are ridiculously loud or emitting lots of smoke.

So basically, keep it quiet and don't do front tint and mount those plates while on the road and you will have far less issues.

Reminds me when I had my 300zx and trying to get it smogged.

inspector: -Lifts up hood- "Is this aftermarket" pointing at oil filler cap
Me: "Yeah."
Inspector: "You know I can fail you for that?"
Me: "Its a oil filler cap.. You open it to fill your oil.." -opens cap to show him what a dumbass he is-

Thanks HAHA. I was young and dumb. Can't say I didn't have lots of fun though.

HachiEnam 09-08-2015 07:35 PM

Isla Vista, or Goleta, or Santa Barbara. Was pulled over for front window tints and no front license plate. Tints allowed about 70% light through (Tint Tuesday...).

$20 dollar fix it ticket for both. This was for a 2007 BMW 328i that is basically stock.

Speed2th 09-08-2015 07:55 PM

the most obvious reason usually are no front license plate or loud exhaust, they can spot you a mile away. Once they had you stopped, than they can decide how difficult they would like to make you miserable.

DJCarbine 09-08-2015 08:02 PM

When I had my N1 exhaust, I got pulled over. The cop just yelled at me and then left, which was interesting... but sold that immediately and got a quieter exhaust. Not worth the trouble, who knows what would happen the next time.

why? 09-08-2015 10:53 PM

only time I was ever pulled over for a mod was when I bought a car from fl. Literally on the way back from getting it from the truck I was pulled over for the tint being too dark. Was rather funny. After looking at all the paperwork the officer told me I had a week to get it fixed. I was like,"yup."

Tint laws are idiotic. cars have all sorts of limits but there are zero limits for SUV's or trucks.

Modified exhaust

Kamakanani0 09-14-2015 06:42 PM

what other components did you have along with the n1?
What exhaust did you switch to...?

The N1 was paired with a Borla UEL to an ARK test pipe. Switched to a Q300, also swapped the Borla for a RevWerks header + PLM overpipe + Motive catted pipe

Much better now

I got the no license plate, no ticket since I told the officer there is no bolt holes on the bumper but I had zip ties and just tied it to the grill. I took it off 30 minutes later. Still have it in the trunk along with zip ties, just in case.

amazingbrz 09-18-2015 02:50 AM

got pulled over for tint and no front license plate....another RSX got pulled over and the cops partner that was not writing the ticket was eyeing me the whole time while I coming down the ramp bumper to bumper in the morning traffic...=/

only gave me ticket for front license plate tho....so now I have one on lol

Pish 09-18-2015 04:02 AM

I got pulled over a few time for not having a front plate .... while having a front plate on .........

That's actually a really smart excuse lol. Or well, it's the truth, but still. Thumbs up to you.

Full tomei system with the 60S. It's been nearly 2 months with this set up and I have not yet been pulled over(Knock on wood). Honestly, as long as you don't drive like an asshole, you should be golden.

serial gixxer 10-28-2015 05:49 PM

Just put on your front license plate guys. Ive been pulled over multiple times for this and have been asked to pop the hood. Yea it's ugly but not worth the hassle.

go_a_way1 10-28-2015 05:58 PM

I was pulled over cuz my car has no badges so the cop wanted to check theregistration to see what the car was... then he proceeded to tell me he"has never seen one of these" witch is total BS cuz I see at least 1if not 2 FRS every day in my city.

Anyone know the legality of debadging in California?

nyrip 10-29-2015 03:50 PM

Got pulled over yesterday for no front license plate. Got a ticket for no front license plate and illegal exhaust, and a warning for my windshield. The cop also wanted to search my car.
I could see he was out to get me for anything. For once I wasnt being a **** while driving, just doing 65 in the slow lane.
Called CHP office this morning and all tickets are being dropped. Didn't need a court date due to work scheduling.
Just watch out while rolling around! (and don't be a **** to the cop)
