I bought the BRZ today....

....or at least ordered it. 2016 Hyper Blue edition. Should be here in October they say. Working with Sewell Subaru in Dallas, and they are great (I have used their Infiniti dealership in the past). Salesperson will be getting VIN to me.

I figured since I was even considering the overly metro-sexual Miata that WTF, Hyper Blue is doable. I have had my share of dark colors over the years, and finally broke down and got a white SUV a few years back. I live in TX and this heat gets to be a bit much in the summer. That said, I kind of wish they had a yellow color. Any ideas on how I can macho up the car (rims, tires, exterior mods) would be appreciated.

I feel very good about the decision as it has been 4 months of test drives and research. I feel like I know what I am getting and what I am not getting, and I am at peace with it all.

I will be hanging out here now and again asking questions. Thanks for your support thus far!

You've come to the right place. But exterior wise is completely up to you! I would check around the Member Journal section and see what others are doing to their FR-S/BRZ/86.
Btw you're about to have some incoming flammers telling you to use the search button.. Welcome to the forum!

Nope. Reasonable question posed it a literate manner will not (well should not at any rate) get him flamed nor told to search.

"Yo boiz what are the siccest things I can do to my sweet whip" would however not go so well.

Nice choice there Jonny. Somebody correct me if I am wrong but does the Hyper Blue not already come with different rims?
Suggest you drive it for a while before you decide what you need to do with it. You may very well find it is pretty "macho" already (says the guy with the orange car).

Cool choice!

Things that I think 'Macho'(?!) up a BRZ: STi lip, yellow fogs, a nice stainless catback, and side skirts/rear diffuser if you like them.
These cars get loud quick if you decide to do a catless header, so if you have future goals of doing this, go with a quieter catback.

I got to see the Hyper Blue in person at Wicked Big Meet this year and thought it was a neat color.

Congrats on the buy, and welcome to the community!

Welcome! You should definitely find the DFW86Club on FB. It's a nice active, local community. Plenty of meets and such. Also, why not join Houston 86 Club as well? <--- Shameless plug

Yeah....I have been getting better with the search button ;)

As for the "macho" thing, just trying to help my teenage boys a little. They were all about the hyper blue.

And yes, I plan on driving it for a while but as a newb I am already getting excited about some of the potential upgrades. Sorry about that ;)

MisterSheep 09-08-2015 06:00 PM

I feel a nice set of wide black wheels and a good drop would make the car look "macho"

Edit: I would add the sti lip kit for it as well.

OP for a bit of car porn go check ft86speedfactory & marvel at all the colorful parts available.

click around this site there is a ton of info. many people have stumbled here asking same questions/topics. search isnt terribly necessary, just go a few pages back under each section.

and finally drive it, enjoy it for what it is, then sort out where you'd like it to improve.

Lonewolf 09-08-2015 10:53 PM

The hyper blue BRZ already comes with black wheels stock...so no need to spend money there.

Get a deep, throaty exhaust and avoid putting stupid stickers and stuffed animals on/in your car and you'll be good to go...

why? 09-08-2015 11:16 PM

You don't need to "macho" up the color. It is an iconic color used by Ford, BMW and even Volvo on some pretty impressive vehicles. Everything is back in style now, no matter when and where it was originally popular. If you really think your boys need machoing up, or in reality just so they can protect themselves, get them some training in some form of martial arts. It will probably cost less and might come in handy for them some day.

Thanks Why.....good advice. They got it going on.....and Lonewolf, no stuffed animals ;)
