Good luck, I'm sure you guys will do well, not to mention have some amazing stories to tell by the end of the event!

Getting closer. Only a few more things to prep on the car for the event.

3 days in, status update.

Day 1 - Mosport

We did well despite the Mosport power track not really suited to our car. Got a 1:41 lap, some issues including catching others on my hot laps prevented us from doing better.

We got 3rd in Autox, so we ended up 3rd overall.

Day 2 - Calabogie

Time Attack was on the East track, we rocked out a very fast 1:20.8 to secure 4th.

In autoslalom, we came out with our first win thanks to Kenny (Umb FRS) over the CanJam WRX and the Scion Racing Speed Academy in 3rd.

Day 3 - Calabogie

Time Attack today was on the full course, we figured we would end up around 5th or 6th due to the faster cars and the track layout with more straightaways.

I ran a great lap and got a 2:26.7 on my first session. Scion Racing had a 2:26.5 and was narrowly ahead of us in 2nd with us in 3rd.

Second session I had to step it up despite the track getting slower. Squeezed out a 2:26.2 to grab second and it stuck for the day.

Final was WRX first, Team Slickauto.ca second (us), Camaro SS third and Scion Racing 4th.

Autox was a tight battle with CanJam WRX beating us out for first, but we secured 2nd with a Miata in 3rd.

For the day we got 2nd in both events and still 3rd overall so far but even closer to Scion Racing in 2nd place.

Wow that's some great driving! Dave and Peter in the Speed Academy FRS aren't pulling much more with that extra power

Simply amazing driving by Andre, Norm and Kenny to be keeping up with cars they really shouldn't be that close to (on paper).

If you've driven Calabogie, you'll realize just how ridiculous a 2:26.5 (in the afternoon heat!) is with a close to stock FRS.

Day 4 Update:

Shannonville Nelson Time Attack in morning

First session times were:

52.624 Team Scion Racing
53.399 Team Slickauto.ca
54.314 Team BMW M4

We needed to find almost a second to beat Peter in the Speed Academy FRS which was a bit too far (wasn't much left to get). I went out again in 3rd session and bettered my time but only by half a tenth but we at least secured 2nd place, with the BMW M4 of Duncan Johnson behind us in 3rd.

Shannonville Pro Time Attack in afternoon

After the first session we found ourselves in 3rd place with a time of 1:17.978, second was the BMW M4 of Duncan Johnson only just over a tenth faster with a 1:17.855, with the 1st place going to Team Scion Racing only a half-second ahead with 1:17.452. Close competition.

I ran the second session again to try and gain a tenth at least to get to second, managed to pull off a 1:17.2 (.7 faster) to better the Scion Racing time from session 1.
But they also turned up the wick, put on new fresh tires and ran a 1:15.8 I think. In that session, we managed to pull back ahead of the BMW M4 but the Camaro SS squeezed into 2nd place, so we ended up in 3rd for this session.

The Canjam WRX never showed at all today, not sure if they will show tomorrow, meaning they are out of contention for overall now.

So it looks that this puts us up to 2nd place for now, only 20 points behind the new leaders Team Speed Academy.
Seems to be a good gap to 3rd now with the players below us mixing it up a bit. (Miata, Camaro SS, BMW M4).
We'll see in the morning when they post official results.

Friday is at Cayuga with another 2 Time Attack Stages (short and full courses), plus Top Speed runs at end of day.

This is the home track for Speed Academy, so our goal is to just stay close behind them, hopefully only 1 position back.

Holy crap! I was on the Nelson last weekend with some friends and my best recorded time was 1:20.25 and I thought I was happy with that but I clearly have a very long way to go. Looking forward to seeing some of your videos from Shannonville!

You probably ran Nelson with the kink, we ran without.

Ah yes that's right.

As someone who follows with great interest

Andre, Norm and Kenny. Scion Canada should be watching with great interest and should really look at marketing these incredible results somehow. You are entered in a division where your ride is significantly under powered to your competition making your combined results all the more impressive. Keep up the excellent work guys and please keep the updates coming. Very exciting to say the least. Myself and the rest of FT86Club Ottawa are extremely proud of your accomplishments. I wish I was there to hear the conversations amongst the other team members about the performance of the Slick Automotive Solutions car and the guys driving it.

Slick 09-18-2015 01:15 PM

Thanks Paul!

Morning Time Attack done. We managed to stay less than a second back from Speed Academy on their home track at Cayuga.

The big horsepower cars were rewarded today.
