I would love to see a log of the maf voltage before and after. I'm curious how much different it is as the oem is right after a bend.

I have a baseline of what my car is right now and the only variable is the intake, so I`ll post a comparison dyno.

Super bling bling, will be interesting to see what it looks like in the engine bay and how it performs.

As it's a ram air, dyno isn't going to show much...

Depends on the dyno... The one I use the fan simulates ~60MPH winds at grille height. And then there is the intake / exhaust ventilation of the room giving an ambient wind speed. But... not all dyno's have a fan setup like this lol. The one I use is basically a damn wind tunnel that you enclose the car in.

Hmmm gruppe m you say...I'll have to shoot over an email to Ogose-san to make me one.

I recommend to couple with Revolution TB to maximize the potential of this air intake, its insane.

after doing the maintenance stuff (transmission fluid), fun stuff begins. bumper needs to come off for the Gruppe-M intake install. I had been debating on removing the windshield washer fluid reservior for maximum weight savings, and I was glad to confirm that it was a whopping 11.6 lbs of weight, all on the nose of the car. hopefully the polar moment of inertia improves with removing this. more trips to gas stations now to clean the windshield i suppose :).

generic K&N filter is used for the intake. needs to be cleaned and oiled.

cleaned, dryed, and oiled.

weight of the intake. total of 9.28lbs + aluminum brackets (.5lbs roughly): 9.78lbs.

weight of the OEM intake. No idea what the snorkel weighs.. we`ll just say 0.5lbs. total of 6lbs.

first test fitment of the box.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...c4&oe=56734AB8

driver's side of the intake gets attached to the bracket on the engine block. I did not have to drill any holes to install this intake.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...50&oe=569FB53A

passenger side installs with the bracket attaching to the dip stick.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...5f&oe=56A6A5D7

driver's side snorkel attaches to the top of the bumper beam. there are 2 strips of 3M adhesives behind the snorkels to attach to the bumper beam.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...be&oe=56AAB03B

passenger side snorkel attaches to this L bracket. the bottom side of the L bracket that gets installed onto a hole on the bumper beam uses a expanding rubber screw. very very slick stuff.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...56&oe=56A4C656

fitment is tight, but everything fits perfectly when installed.
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...be&oe=565E19AE

here is what the snorkels look like with the bumper reinstalled. maybe I could have cut outs on the mustache to expose more of the snorkel to feed more air.

initial reactions: the top end is quite nice :). the sound isnt any louder than the greddy intake I had before, but for sure the car pulls like it is driving in the cooler days. I thought we were in the low 70s from the way it feels but today it said 78 degrees on the way in to work. I`d be interested in seeing what it can do with a proper tune.

car will be on the dyno tomorrow. I baselined with the Greddy intake, and the only difference is the intake so it should be a fair comparison, minus a few details like ambient temp, etc.

admiring the work done :)

Always been curious about this intake. Really look forward to what the dyno shows!

Yes. They do. I wasn't even addressing that. But the others have multiple 90 degree bends. The thing that distinguishes this intake is the geometry down stream of the filter, not the place where it picks up air. This one is a straight shot from filter to throttle body.

By the way you would absolutely see a pressure drop equal to at least the filter differential pressure in any intake. And then after that every bend in the pipe further reduces airflow.

Velocity matters as much as pressure when determining flow.

I'm not saying this means automatic power gains as there are more factors that go into it (resonance for instance) but this has the potential to be a better design for several reasons.

Love this intake!!! Looks sweet!!

Now isn't a TRD intake the same then? It is a straight shot from the filter to the TB? If you add a snorkal to the TRD intake it is almost like this one? But again at almost the same price and I feel this one is better haha!!

yea honestly there are lots of ways you can achieve a similar design.

ha, I wish they were similar in price :).
