OLM Bixenon Projector Foglights:Review

First off, hey everybody, joined the forum a few months ago shortly after picking up my BRZ and would like to thank anyone who has contributed to the forum.

After adding a couple small Perrin parts, drift button and transmission mount, I decided I was gunna add some 3k (yellow) foglights, eventually I decided on a set of OLM bixenon projector foglights from subispeed.com. They run anywhere between $185-$245 depending on options you'd like included, ie; high beam, all in one ballast, relay harness. They also ship in a variety of temperatures, from 3,000-8000 k.

I ordered them with an attached compact ballast which simply plugged into the back of the bulb which inserts into the glass housings. Being as the car came with factory foglights everything was plug & play so after removing a few fender lining clips, and a bolt or two I simply swapped out the stock housing and halogen bulb with the new glass housing and HID bulb.Attachment 119334
So now you probably want to see the finished product right? Well I ended up doing the install without power over the weekend due to local storm weather, :( but when I get home from work tonight I'll edit some into the post 😚

Note: On Subispeed's tutorial for install on a WRX they say you can do the swap by simply turning your wheel to make room but I found it would be easier to simply just jack the car up and take the wheel off. Attachment 119333 Being as this is my first post and review if anybody has any comments or suggestions for future posts that be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Pictures don't really do these things justice, neither do my cell phone photography skilz , but they put out some light! Attachment 119393
When they're not on its hard to tell the difference between the factory housing.

What is the point of having Bi-Xenon foglights? There's a low and high beam to your fogs?

I believe they have a flapper that flips up to make them "high beams"

Does that get activated with a switch? When would you use that?

Looks clean, but I'd never want my fogs to have a high beam.

I'm not sure, subispeed says you can splice high beam function in so maybe just when you activate your headlight high beams? I've never felt the need for that much light.

Thanks! Instal was super easy and I love the look.
