3rd official Attack on Twisted by ATS Racing

ATS Racing is hosting its 3rd annual Twisted Sisters run on Saturday, November 7.

Group leaves the YO Ranch hotel at 9am, heads to the Valero down the road for fuel (most of us run E85), then off we go.

We've never had the need to have separate groups before, but last February's attendance pretty much mandated it going forward. We're currently working on how we're going to work groups out, so I'll be updating this thread along the way. Also feel free to make suggestions.

The route we take (a bit different than what you guys do):

From YO Ranch Hotel in Kerrville, Tx.
R on 16 to Holdsworth Dr. (at cemetery)
R on Holdsworth to jct Harper Rd
L on Harper Rd to jct 27
R on 27 W
Continue 27 to jct 39 (left lane)
Stay to left for 39 W
Continue 39 W to jct 187
L on 187 S to jct 337 at Vanderpool
R on 337 to Leakey
Continue 337 to Frio Canyon Canyon MC stop (on left 1/2 mile past stop sign)

***Break***

Backtrack to Leakey to jct 83
L on 83 to jct 336
L on 336 to jct 41
L on 41 to jct 335
L on 335 to jct 55
L on 55 to Camp Wood

***Lunch @ Holy Smoke BBQ***
1 block S of 337 on 55

R on 337 E to Leakey
R on 83 to gas station for fuel if needed (no E85 here!)

83 N back to jct 337
R on 337 to Medina
R on 16 to Apple Orchard for Ice Cream (on left 1/16 mile down 16)
Continue 16 N back to Kerrville

We have an in-house videographer that has been asking me to make sure we get enough FRS/BRZ footage to make a separate video for us. He will be having a quick meeting to go over his ideas/requests for anyone (in any type of car) that will be filming. You aren't required to attend, or even give him your footage, but who doesn't like videos?

Videos of some of our previous events: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr_...ZnWhKhyk9LxyUg

Also, Mason Bleasdell should be attending once again. He is the owner of Bleasdell Autophotography (https://www.facebook.com/bleasdell.autophoto?pnref=lhc). Previous years he has posted all of the event images to download for free, but he does sell prints and such as well, so be sure to check those out.

We have a group rate set up at the YO Ranch hotel. It's $99/night. For Friday and Saturday night it should be ~$224 after taxes. Traditionally this has included breakfast buffet vouchers for everyone in the room, no matter how many people are staying in the room. That has yet to be confirmed for this year, but shouldn't be an issue.

Hope to see some of you there!

If I'm not mistaken its all one group. They don't split it like we have for ours.

I'm tentative.

We are doing groups this time. Last time there were far too many cars that drove at different paces (and in general) to be remotely safe. Growing pains :sigh:

Hey look a volunteer for group one if Tim doesn't show

I will go as a possible at the moment. I won't know for sure until October. I might be going to Alaska or Maryland in the near future temporarily due to work. It'll mark my 9th time running the Sisters in... hah... a month 1/2.

robr 09-01-2015 10:56 PM

My wife has been looking for NICU jobs in San Antonio. She keeps asking me how often I'd come down to visit her until I graduate in the spring. All I keep thinking is that I can detour a bit and run the Sisters every time. So hopefully soon I'll be able to say I did 9 loops in a month :)

c4lvinnn 09-01-2015 11:33 PM

Hmm this could be fun. Anyone driving down from DFW?

All the DFW-area ATS customers will be caravaning down Friday. We haven't worked out details yet since it's so far away. I'll be posting info as we get closer. Last November there were ~15 MR2s with us on the way down. This past February event I don't know how many left the area (Denton) because I went down with my wife and baby instead. We take 281 there and back. All of us E85 guys make it just fine.

You're obviously all more than welcome to plan your own caravan if you don't care to mix with a bunch of MR2s.

oh that could be fun. I'm only about 10 min out from Denton so yall are close. Post details when you have them!

robr 09-02-2015 11:40 AM

Will do. It most likely won't be discussed until September or so. But I will definitely post details here.

And keep in mind that ATS Racing is 99% an MR2 shop, so you'll be mixed in with them throughout the weekend anyway.

Can you link the caravan info in this thread when info comes up? Earliest I see myself leaving from work is 5pm unless I get a doctors note. ;P

Yes, any actual info about the event and the ATS caravan down from DFW will be posted here as it becomes available. In fact, it'll probably end up being easier to get any pertinent information here than the FB page.

The Facebook page is mostly just banter at this point, which you're all welcome to join in on. All the info will be available there too.

Nothing new, no changes.

I'm in.......

robr 10-20-2015 10:09 AM

Still tentative, but most likely how it will be since it's what we've done in the past:

- Meet at ATS Racing in Denton at 9am on Friday, 11/6. 2120 James St. Denton, TX 76025
- Head out at 10am
- Meet with the other DFW guys at the Kroger in Crowley. Rough time estimate puts us there about 11am.
- Refuel, head down to Kerrville once we know that everyone is ready.

We take 287 for most of the way, then some other fun backroads.

We usually only stop when needed for fuel, but if you'll be meeting us at the shop or the Kroger, please bring it up. I'll mention it to John (our video guy, and the employee tasked with promoting this event) at work tomorrow so he is at least aware of the idea.

robr 11-01-2015 12:07 PM

As of now, plans are still the same - I'll recap in the next couple days.

Weather forecast is looking kind of crappy at the moment. We will still be going down to Kerrville, but the actual run part will be played by ear. Hopefully this is the last time weather will need to be discussed :fingerscrossed:

robr 11-05-2015 11:23 AM

ATS/DFW caravan info (same as above):
- Meet at ATS Racing in Denton at 9am on Friday, 11/6. 2120 James St. Denton, TX 76025
- Head out at 10am
- Meet with the other DFW guys at the Kroger in Crowley. Rough time estimate puts us there about 11am. I'd suggest being there no later than 11:30am. If we will be drastically late getting there, I will update this thread once we leave the shop.
- Refuel, head down to Kerrville once we know that everyone is ready.

35W drivers:
Be aware it is a Nascar race weekend. 35W around exit 70 can get fairly crappy. If you run E85, the Valero at that exit is the only station between Ft Worth and the shop that has it directly off 35. Races also bring out the police (there were 4 in a 2 mile stretch surrounding the track just now). So please plan accordingly. The station ~1/4 mile down the road from the shop with E85 is maybe 20 miles past the exit 70 Valero (more like 15 miles, but I like to be cautious), so if you think you can make it, I'd suggest avoiding exit 70 traffic/chaos.

Weather:
Most weather reports say the rain in Kerrville will stop before 9am Saturday, so we should be good rain-wise for the run. Hopefully there won't be any flooding. We are assuming the weather will prevent a lot of bikers and non-enthusiast drivers. Fingers crossed.

I will update this thread tomorrow if there are any changes to Saturday morning's plans. But as of now, we are still leaving the YO Ranch at 9am.

robr 11-06-2015 11:37 AM

Leaving the shop for Crowley right now.

robr 11-06-2015 12:38 PM

At the Crowley Kroger gas station. About to head to the Taco Bell to hang out for a bit and wait for anyone that's showing up.

robr 11-18-2015 10:21 AM

First video is done: [ame="http://youtu.be/4dNRgTA-eV4"]http://youtu.be/4dNRgTA-eV4[/ame]

Jakecrow 11-18-2015 01:57 PM

Looks like it was lots of fun! Drove those roads recently with a couple friends, they are amazing (but boooo at Bandera cops). Will see about running with you all next time.

robr 11-18-2015 04:26 PM

The cop in the video was actually driving the roads (first time I've ever seen that). Didn't pull anyone over, just told the guys back there they couldn't stop like they were.

Are you the stock black FRS that goes to the engineering campus at UNT by chance?

Jakecrow 11-18-2015 11:46 PM

Nope (car is black but not quite stock), but I do drive past there often as I work on that side of town. Lunch hour = excuse to pointlessly drive around :)

robr 11-19-2015 10:37 AM

Ah, haven't seen you around then. Maybe one day.

Velisma 12-29-2015 12:38 PM

Hello! I'm the videographer and event organizer for the Attack on Twisted run/events of which we do bi-annually (Fall & Spring) w/ folks from all around the country. We love the fact that we get an opportunity to share this very special experience with all makes/models and especially our FRS/BRZ brethren. I look forward to seeing more you our there at the next run! Cheerz!
