Microfiber towels
 

it seems that no matter which ones I buy(expensive or cheap) they leave fibers all over my glass or whatever I'm cleaning/applying stuff to. am I doing something wrong?

ex. cleaned the glass last night and when I finished there was nothing but fibers all over the glass. it's highly irritating. thanks in advance.

Try washing them first? I use some special glass rags, can't remember where I bought them though.

Don't press quite so hard. That should greatly reduce the number of leftover fibers.

...and dry them in the dryer (NO fabric softener, I found weird streaks after drying my previous car).

I used to machine wash and hang dry all my cloths and was having the same problem. Tossed them in the dryer and I barely see any fibers now.

Use a waffle weave micro fiber towel for glass as it won't leave streaks or fibers.

They also make micro-fibers for just glass and they look almost like satin or silk. You can also buy some really high thread count microfibers from www.streakfree.biz. They are great for doing windows inside and out. I believe they are something like 3000 thread count and have the consistency of a pillowcase (more or less). I bought these years ago from a vendor at Carlisle auto show and love them. They can be washed too.

Artificial chamois called 'The Absorber' is also good for windows and a lot of auto parts places carry them.

Before I use them, I shake the cloth and all the fibers come off. After about 10 seconds, no more tiny little fibers.
Pieces of crap but they get the job done. Mostly one time use only due to them being so cheap, so I keep them to clean the wheel afterward. Also use it during spirited driving when bugs splatter on the window. And bird poop.

Also, I use the "water sheeting" method when washing so very little water is left on the car. That's when these come into play, just dab at the leftover water (no chances of streaks) and viola!

while I've got ya. I'd like to get something like this https://www.detailersdomain.com/coll...le-3-piece-kit but that will attach to a cordless drill. I've only seen like a flat scrubbing brush type thing.

About 15 dollars. Lasted me for 2 months now. Granted, I haven't been washing my car as often as I should... I use as much as 2-3 towels per wash whenever I do. Again, that's with the water sheeting + dabbing method.

Highly recommend them if you don't want to shell out for more higher quality towels. But they really are just one time use, unless you find some other use for it.

I just watched a video on this. turns out I've been doing this for years. :lol: who knew I was actually doing "something". I just noticed it working on accident. :)

I'm an extremely lazy person so that method of rinsing the car off works wonders! Also helps if you are somewhat tall and the car is low. Even less effort!
