Anyone remember Visconti?
He's making really bold claims on the Z forums, fortunately for us, it's easy to to cut through the ethanol fumes when you just happen to have a Z.
http://blog.vittuned.com/na-bolt-on-...-test-results/ I couldn't help myself. lol |
I didn't even have to make this...
http://i.qkme.me/3vi3gt.jpg Also for fun Google image search "Visconti brz" it's no wonder he's afraid of E85 |
are you guys really arguing about 12 whp?
|
How much time did you spend dyno testing and writing that blog to determine that Visconti's claims were off by 12 whp?
|
There was a pissing match between him and another tuner on FB last weekend in regards to who's the worst tuner. Obviously, Vis. was the one who pulled the first sucker punch on the other tuner.

ooh link me an invite to the group!

I need to edit the screenshots of the pissing match. Covering up 3rd party's names and pictures. Also, the post was deleted by the group moderators. I'll post an imgur link once I'm back from a meeting.

I understand the purpose of your efforts, but 12 whp is a waste of time in and of itself no matter what mods you're using. Now E85 on a FI 86 is worth the time. As a tuner running a business, I can't even imagine wanting to waste my time on tuning something for 12 whp, when you could be working on FI tunes or built engines.

Waste of time is all relative, the Stillen intakes I tried out on the car actually lost power without a tune (and not due to the fueling -- VVEL mapping had to be redone completely), and after retuning we got minor gains. The gains from retuning on different fuel was greater than the intakes by a large margin. It wasn't some great effort, the car spent an hour on the dyno and I took a break from the normal daily routine to relax. And the car is N/A, you're peeling onions to make power N/A. People are paying me to squeeze 5hp out of certain mods lol. On the other hand, tuning isn't just a business. It's something I enjoy doing and something that's been a passion of mine for over a decade. I enjoy changing parts around and seeing the effects on the motor and tune. Sometimes figuring out how a new ECU works (the magic in the background no one really ever thinks about) is downright frustrating and sometimes it's simple -- but in either situation it's rewarding when I do figure it out. Some people enjoy under water basket weaving, I enjoy tuning, lol. |

Wait. Is that comparing a stock tune to an E85 tune? What's a 93 tune vs. an E85 tune look like?

Once the weather cools off and it starts raining I'll have more time to play.
Mid September I'll be testing out the Edelbrock kit. We have it coming with the standard pulley, the 3.0 and the 2.75. Yes my car is still getting a turbo kit built for it, I have 3 intercooler cores and tons of manifold piping already waiting to get fabbed, because turbo > *, lol. But I like to tinker too much to just do one thing and leave the car alone. So what that spells for someone local, is a really good deal on an Edelbrock kit when I'm done tinkering, lol. |
