Any college guys here? Question about parking in LA schools

I was wondering if there's anybody who goes to college in LA and park their car there? I don't plan to put on the front license plate but I got a parking citation the first day at my campus. Apparently they give out tickets for not parking head in and no front plate.

Is it a regular occurrence around here for giving tickets without front license plate or is it just because they found two reasons together and decided to do that.

yeah, they can give you tickets for it. at my school though, if the spaces are slanted, you have to park front first. if they're straight, then you can back into them. they might have wanted extra revenue or something and got you for the license plate on top of it.

Yeah you can get tickets for not having front plates at schools. At the university I attended, it had a sign posted you had to park head in only. Luckily I didn't park in the school parking lots... so no problem for me.

Check your student handbook for parking rules. If it does not mention front plate, contest that part.

For not parking head in, my school does that too (Cypress College), so yeah just keep that in mind. If whoever manages parking security in your school is PD, then I think they can also give you that front plate ticket.

Student handbooks do not need to mention front plates, because it is part of the CVC and can be enforced by any parking enforcement that the state allows.

@mav1178 depends on what kind of school I would imagine. If it is a public university, yes. A private school, in theory, you could take a ticket and throw it in the trash if you are a visitor. If you're a student then the worst they could do is revoke your pass or prevent you from registering or graduating, or tow your car I guess for trespassing. It's like the private lots in LA that are giving out illegal "tickets." They are meaningless.

change schools

They can give you no front plate tickets.

Again:

If the ticket is one for no front plate, parking enforcement CAN give you a citation for it.

The reason is simple: they need your license plate to identify your car. Without a front plate it is a simple fix-it ticket that is added on to whatever parking violation you are infringing on.

One is a parking enforcement matter, one is a CVC matter. The parking enforcement you can argue. The CVC one you have to fix or pay up.

Throw it in the trash if you want. You'll be in for a pleasant surprise the next time your CA registration comes up for renewal.

Again, depends on the school and type of officer, at USC, yes, the campus police are licensed CA officers. At other schools, just rent a cops.

I got multiple front plate tickets back when I went to Pasadena City College. It was written up by the same "officer". I ended up getting a front plate bracket and transferred to a 4 year college.

you can even get a no-front-plate ticket when parked on the street anywhere too. and the airport. and other places. they will hand them out. it's not a school thing, it's a law thing.

Did you go to USC? Fight on, man!

I've received a no front plate ticket before at school. :(
