Bridgestone RE-71R: Best size for AutoX
So, like a lot of you guys I'm classed in STX. I'm looking at getting some RE-71R's pretty soon and am trying to figure out the best size. I'm currently using Michelin PSS 225/40's stretched on a 9" wheel. Obviously this is far from ideal so I'm looking to go wider. I was going to go with 245's but noticed that the 255's have an extra 1" of tread width on these particular tires. Would 255's give the best performance or am I running into diminishing returns here?

I had this discussion over the weekend since Saturday's layout seemed like the slightly taller and wider tire would help. I'm on 255, everyone else is on 245. I don't recall on which platform the two were compared, but I guess it came out 245 had the advantage everywhere. I believe it's turn in that improves.

All the fast guys at national tours are on 245/40. So I guess that's your easy answer.

245/40. Fast if not faster than the 255 also cheaper than the 255
