Pirelli World Challenge TCA class FR-S to race today and twice Saturday

Tony Rivera will be racing his FR-S at Miller's Motorsports Park this weekend. After a disappointing Mid-Ohio weekend, Tony has fallen to third in the driver points standings. He is 112 points behind the leader. He is still dealing with the boat anchor-like BOP adjustment that was placed on the FR-S due to its early season dominance in the TCA class. He is currently fourth fastest in class during pre-race practice.

You can watch the races streamed live at: http://www.world-challengetv.com/

The first race is due to go off at 3:35PM EST. There are also two races scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, Aug 22nd)

It says 5:35 EST, right?

G'luck Tony, hope he's adjusted to his BOP penalty.

The countdown says it should be starting right now.

EDIT: Well, one place it says the race is at 3:35PM EST. ON the same page, it says the telecast is at 5:35PM. Then on the write up about who was the fastest qualifier it says that the race will be at 6:30 EST. So who knows? I guess I will keep tuning in until I see it.

Glad they corrected boost for the turbo cars an that high elevation circuit or it would be a Kia podium.

Kia still has the pole in TCA over a second faster than the FR-S.

I have not been able to get it on worldchallengetv but it is on right now on TorqueTV.

Edit: Bad race for Tony again. He could not make up any ground on the first two cars and then had a problem at the end dropping him to last TCA car running.

Third place finish for the FR-S in the first race today. He will be racing again later today.

My understanding is that they adjusted the FR-S base weight upward and then he is also carrying award penalty weight. They wanted to slow him down but now he is over 1 second a lap slower than the championship leading Kia. Of course Kia is a supporting sponsor of the series and Toyota/Scion is not involved at all so Tony does not have any lobbying support when it comes to racing specs.

Well they want it to be a fair race, right? :laughabove:

I've been wondering about this myself. Honda also is a sponsor--at least at Road America (the pace car for the touring car race was a CR-Z). Plus, I imagine there are a lot more Honda & Kia fans than Scion fans at these races, and the organizers want to please the crowds...

Yeah, I hate to come off as a, sour grapes, Toyota Fanboi but the FR-S went from winning races by 20-30 seconds to now finishing 20-30 seconds behind. He is running the smallest displacement NA (piston) engine in the field. His 2.0L compared to the Honda civic Si at 2.4L, the BMW at 2.5L, the Turbo Kia and rotary RX-8. Toyota/Scion is not part of the manufacturers championship like Kia Mazda and Honda so I think the SCCA made sure that the FR-S would not continue to steal their thunder. Due to Wolfe's double wins at Mid-Ohio and two wins so far at Miller, Tony is all but out of the driver point championship contention now.

Yeah I'm salty about it too, especially given how well Michele did at the SCCA races with the likes of the Mustangs and such. It seems a little excessive to give him such a handicap.

Last race starting right now.

Clearly the BOP adjustments were overboard...congrats Pirelli WC...you lost my interest and viewership
