DCTMS OEM Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Review

Hey guys, I haven't posted that frequently on the forum since I joined in 2013. However that is going to change now that I have the time to (entering senior year at UT).

I wanted to take the time to write a review regarding my new steering wheel from DCT Motor Sports. Let me begin by saying that the customer support from DCTMS was great. I ordered the wheel last Friday and it was at my door Monday afternoon. It arrived via UPS 2 day priority shipping. The wheel was securely packaged with Styrofoam like padding around the carbon fiber and plastic wrapping around the remained of the wheel. Sorry that I don't have any photos to post with regards to the packaging, I was too excited and rushed to begin installing the wheel.

The installation was very easy, as I followed the DIY posted by FT86SpeedFactory at

Please remember to disconnect the battery before beginning as you do not want the air bag to suddenly trigger and smack you in the face or have the horn go off 50 times and have your neighbors call and complain about the noise...

The only difference for me from the above DIY is that I drive a auto. For those of you with a automatic you will need to remove the paddle shifters from the back of your stock wheel and transfer them to your new one. This is very simple as each paddle is connected by 2 screws on the rear of the wheel. The rest of the install is the same as in the link above. YES I DRIVE AN AUTO GET OVER IT... Austin traffic is just to terrible for a stick on a daily driver in my opinion.

Now to the part that you all care about, the photos. The red leather on the wheel is similar to the black leather on the OEM wheel in that the leather has the same perforations as the stock one. Asides from a similar style of leather the quality of the new leather is much better than stock. It has a softer feet that kind of reminds me of the upgraded leather that is found on most 991 Porsches and VW products. Asides from that the wheel is completely different. Although it doesn't look like it the wheel is actually quite a bit thicker than the original wheel which in my opinion gives it a beefier feel. The stitching on my wheel was flawless and it had a similar pattern to the stock wheel. And last but not least dat CARBON! The carbon fiber that DCTMS used looks top notch. There are no imperfections in the carbon at all and despite its glossy finish, the wheel itself does not become too shinny under direct sunlight.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

UPDATE: Here is a in car video of the DCTMS wheel and me rambling about nothing important.

That wheel is beautiful! I might have to grab one.

P.s. What head unit is that? Me likey

Thanks! My head unit is the app radio 4 from pioneer. Works great it you have a smart phone. It allows you to use the nav from your phone via apple play and displays it neatly on the screen. So its essentially a GPS unit for half the price.

And I just noticed my youtube video has crappy quality I will upload the same one in 1080 later today. sorry
