Repair worth the cost?

3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

First post, so be gentle. I smacked my front lip of my 2015 BRZ on a curb and caused it to bubble and crack slightly. I took it into the dealer and they quoted me $630 for a repair. They said they would use a plastic weld rather than replace the entire piece. My questions: Given the damage in the photos, is this a reasonable quote for repair? Should I shop elsewhere? Should I leave the damage as there are many many curbs out in the world?

Thanks for the input!

I'd try to go to a reputable shop and do it there. The cost should be relatively cheaper than what the dealer is offering. Good luck man! Hate to see this on another fellow BRZ.

Oh and welcome to the forums!

You could always get a lip kit for that money but your car wont look the same. Some lip kits actually looks really good. Cwest painted looks pretty decent

i slightly bumped my front end today while parking for work..!!! i was pretty bummed but it was very minor. i will inspect mine later for damages. sorry to hear about that man

Personally I would leave that. After a week or two you won't even notice it anymore and you can just turn it into a story about how you wacked your new car. Few weeks after I got mine I got hit by a flying tail light that left a great big divot beside my hood emblem. I notice it when I wash it and that is about all. Makes a great story to tell all with the other badges of honour my DD has collected.

I agree with Tcoat, in my family this is called "breaking it in". I would be pissed for a night, then forget about it.

Now that you have the first blemish you can relax, you no longer need to maintain the car as perfect and stress all the time.

I bought my FRS used (4,300 miles) and did a real close inspection to assure myself it already had a blemish or two. Then I climbed in and thrashed it a little, not worried :)

Same here. Mine has several dings. You have to accept that you'll get them when you drive a car as much as we do. Now that I've gotten used to them, I think they add a sort of toughness to the look of the car, like it's been through battle out there on the road and survived.

The dings don't seem to detract from how others see the car. I still get just as many comments about it as when it was in showroom condition.

If you're referring to the mustache I'd just get some black or carbon fiber vinyl and wrap it. That or just leave it, doesn't look too bad.

that is a reasonable quote for my area not sure about yours, but to put things into perspective it would be right around 1000 or a bit over for my shop to do the repairs.

I feel you, mine was used so it had a few marks already but the first day I drove mine to work, I got stuck behind a dump truck. Ended up taking a rock to hood that removed a small chunk of clear coat and some paint. It wasn't the first ding but it was MY first ding. That said, I will probably just clean it out, put some clear polish in there or just wax it and let it go.
