How did you change the oil on the oil cooler with the residual oil inside the oil cooler?

Honestly, I never really worried about changing the oil out of the oil cooler. There is only about a quart or less, and I changed my oil slightly earlier, or more often, than normal (Every 3-5K miles). That way, the residual older oil was diluted to the point where I had no concerns.
